ASUS STRIX R9 Fury DC3 OC Review

ASUS DirectCU cooling has been a fixture of their high-end graphics cards for a few years now, and it's never failed to impress. The core concept behind DirectCU's inception is that intermediary layers between the GPU core and cooler heatpipes by their very nature impedes the heat transfer process, and so having a 'flattened' array of copper heatpipes touching the GPU directly would be the most efficient mode.

DirectCU Technology was introduced during the tail-end of the 40nm GPU generation, a generation which encompassed both NVIDIA's toasty Fermi-class GPUs and AMDs performance-leading dual-GPU 5970 cards. These cards had significantly higher TDP than those designs which came before, and almost every AIB manufacturer needed to come up with their own innovative design which not only improved on reference cooling, but also adapted to the changing demands of users. Low-noise was becoming an increasing focus, at a time when the trend of bigger and more powerful GPUs made things ever more difficult.

Enter DirectCU III, aka DC3. This major upgrade to ASUS’ cooling solution has been fed to a number of recently released cards including: R9 390X, R9 Fury and the graphics card in the spotlight today; R9 FURY. The STRIX R9 FURY DC3 OC arrives with a triple fan configuration which promises to deliver 30% better cooling performance and should be 3X quieter. Not only is this graphics card custom cooled but it’s also factory overclocked to squeeze even more out of AMD’s flagship GPU.

Azio EXO1-K Gaming Mouse Review

This mouse, above all, you get what you pay for. It's not a $100 mouse that does everything but order pizza for you. It is not a cheap garbage mouse that only works half the time, either. What you get is a reliable, aesthetically pleasing, and simple gaming mouse. That being mentioned, this gives the mouse every bit of credit that some of the more expensive mice deserve as well. However, with no software to back this baby up, there is just little you can do with it past casual gaming and a high end system surfer. That is all for the EXO1-K for this go round. I hope you enjoyed this review. If you are in the market for a good, pound for pound mouse that is simple and easy on the eyes, go grab an EXO1-K and game on.

Behind the Glass: In Win 805 Case Review

The In Win 805 is a mid-sized tower constructed exclusively using aluminum and 3mm thick tempered glass. The front panel could be described as a work of art. The majority of the panel is covered in tempered glass but what gives it a special look is the honeycomb cutouts behind the glass. At a quick glance the 805 appears to be well equipped as well, offering plenty storage options, decent cooling out of the box, and Type-C USB on the front panel.

D-Link DIR-890L review: red monster

If you’re looking for a router to make a statement with, the DIR-890L has to be on your list. But how does this monster perform? We found out.

With the DIR-890L, D-Link is targeting buyers who aren't satisfied with the next dull box with some antennae. That's precisely not what this one has become. You can see lots of things in it, from extraterrestrial spaceships to a beetle with a red shield. This at least gives your houseguests something to talk about. We certainly noticed this while testing this router. Everyone has an opinion about the looks of this router. In our opinion the looks of a router isn't a deciding factor wether or not to buy it, but not everyone has to think the same about that. If you value looks, those of the DIR-890L could be that deciding factor.

EK-Predator 240 AIO Liquid Cooling Review

There's a new AOI player in the arena, the Slovenia liquid cooling gawds from EK are now offering the Predator series liquid coolers. We test the Predator 240 which is an all-in-one liquid CPU cooler for cases with 240 mm radiator mounts, but there will be a 360 model with extra quick connect to add gear in the cooling loop as well. Armed with a nice thick radiator, proper tubing and an excellent water-block the pre-filled and fitted kit is easy to install, and yes really impressive for a 240 mm product in both noise levels and cooling performance.

You know, in the world of CPU coolers nothing ever stops developing. These days you can select from a hundred different heat-pipe based coolers, where many are shaped, formed and priced the same. The better heat-pipe based coolers are good though. Next in line are LCS systems (liquid cooling) setup followed by the real and proper expensive liquid cooling kits. The entry level LCS products are affordable, easy to install pre-fab liquid cooling kits. We've seen and tested many of them as Corsair, Asetek, NZXT, Cooler Master and so on all have interesting kits. Weirdly enough we never tested anything from Slovenia based EK though. That ends and starts today. See things are complicated, 80% of the AIO kits out there is based on an Asetek design, as they hold all the patents. In fact on numerous occasions they have successfully sued manufacturers for using the concept of a pump and liquid cooling block AIO. So to release an LCS product that does not interfere with existing designs that fall under a patent EK stepped up. For their excellent stand-alone liquid cooling kits they went to the drawing table and designed the Predator series.

The EK-Predator series will become available in a 240 mm and 360 mm model. To bypass intricate designs they took a nice thick radiator, a fan control hub and pump, and mounted these parts together to combine with their extremely silent EK-Vardar fans. You'll spot seriously good thick tubing and an EK-Supremacy MX water block to chill your processor. This is an AIO unit prefilled with coolant and with the fans and everything installed for you. Really, all you need to do is install it into your PC.

Hands-on review: Lenovo Yoga 700

Tucked away somewhere in Lenovo's booth at the recent IFA show over in Berlin was the Yoga 700, the 2015 version of the small but powerful Yoga 3 (11-inch). It is so new that you won't even find it on Lenovo's website (at the time of writing that is). Along with a new logo, Lenovo adopted the BMW style of using odd numbers to differentiate between the entry (3xx), mainstream (5xx), high-end (7xx) and super premium (9xx) model ranges of Yoga laptops. This means that the 700 is perched just below the 900 (the soon-to-come, follow up to the Yoga 3 Pro) in the pecking order. The Lenovo Yoga 700 appears to be using the same plastic chassis as its predecessor and the same set of features – it has kept the exact same tried-and-trusted hinge solution allowing the screen to flip over completely.
