15-Way AMD/NVIDIA Graphics Card Comparison For 4K Linux Gaming

Being in the middle of working on Linux reviews for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti and AMD Radeon R9 Fury, there's been a lot of fresh graphics processor benchmarks running this week at Phoronix. As the first of these updated large Linux comparisons on the very latest public drivers, here is a 15-way NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics card comparison when running various Linux games with a 4K resolution.

Besides serving as some fresh Linux 4K gaming performance results on the newest AMD/NVIDIA drivers, this is also our first comparison featuring the GeForce GTX 980 Ti now that the review sample arrived courtesy of NVIDIA. The first of the Radeon R9 Fury graphics card results under Linux with the Catalyst driver will be published next week as outlined yesterday. The drivers being used in this latest Linux GPU comparison is Catalyst 15.7 on the AMD side and NVIDIA 352.21 on the green side.

AKRACING AK-6014 Black/Blue Gaming Chair Review

It’s dark you’re running down a corridor and your senses are at their peak. You can hear every little sound, every movement you make is precise and you can feel the slightest tremor if someone approaches you from any side. You’re on a roll, 27 head shots, 43 kills without a single respawn, just 7 more and you will beat your all-time best. You have you next victim in your sites and suddenly you feel a rush of pain creep up your legs which doesn’t stop until it runs up your neck. You quickly move your hand off your mouse to massage the pain and realize that you’re back in the spawn.

Why is it that we spend our money on the best monitors, keyboards, mice and headsets but skimp on our comfort when it comes to what we sit on for numerous hours of gaming and computing? Years ago many of us would build a system and add a monitor as a last thought, luckily most of us are now choosing a monitor and building a system that will compliment it. (Or at least that’s the way it should be) Even with all that change we still neglect the one thing that is most important and that is seating. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to build a gaming ecosystem rather than just a gaming system?

ASUS MG279Q 27-inch IPS FreeSync Gaming Monitor Review

The ASUS MG279Q WGHD gaming monitor is the latest monitor in ASUS ever growing line of gaming-gear and has been one of the most highly anticipated displays for the summer of 2015. This display features a 27-inch In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel with a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution (WQHD) and a 144Hz refresh rate. This display means that gamers no longer have to sacrifice image quality by going with a TN panel to get that 144MHz refresh rate you want for silky smooth gaming. The ASUS MG279Q also supports AMD FreeSync technology for tear-free gaming, although when you run AMD FreeSync the refresh rate is only supported in the 35 Hz to 90 Hz range on this particular display. Azio MKG1 Mechanical Keyboard Review

Having used Azio's MKG1 Mechanical Keyboard, I must say I really like it. The keyboard has its ups and downs, but I am actually quite hooked on it. I plugged in my old keyboard and did some comparing between the two just for grins, and it's night and day. One thing that I can mention is the sheer feel of the keyboard. While in the middle of a rant, the keys move quite well and with the gentlest of touch the key stroke is registered and appears. That is something I do not get with the membrane keyboard I used all these years, so now that I'm used to the MKG1, I find myself missing keys when go to something else. Being a now-converted mechanical keyboard user has brought me to enjoy it based on many factors that greatly outweigh its downfalls, like the noise. And the MKG1 in particular has many positives.

BenQ GW2765HT 27-inch monitor

BenQ’s latest mid-range monitor is a 27-inch 1440p screen with an IPS flicker-free panel. It’s suitable for most general tasks, with excellent picture quality and a bright screen. It should be fine for working at the computer, watching movies and web browsing. And with a low response time of 4ms, it’s great for gaming too. Along with a good feature set and excellent colour reproduction, the GW2765HT looks like a worthy investment, considering its relatively attractive price.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Case Review

The Phanteks Enthoo Pro M has a few similarities from both the Enthoo Pro and the Evolv ATX case but in a mid-tower form factor. The front of the case includes just one 5.25″ ODD bay and a large air intake similar to the Enthoo Pro. The interior frame looks almost identical to the Evolv ATX due to the 2.5″ drop-N-lock mounts and the lack of interior HDD bays. Built specifically to target water cooling enthusiasts, the top and front of the case can support up to a 360mm or a 280mm radiator with plenty of space for a large reservoir.

VKWorld VK6735 Smartphone Review

VK6735 from VKWorld is another low-cost smartphone which is using the already established VK6735 SoC but at a lower frequency of 1GHz, while sporting the same ARM Mali-T720 GPU. We get 2GB of RAM for running more applications in the same time, 16GB of storage space with a single partition and the possibility to install a SD card makes things more interesting. The VK6735 is dual-SIM and features integrated 4G LTE WorldMode and CDMA2000 3G for global high-speed mobile network compatibility and is also equipped with a Sony 13MP shooter on the back while the selfie camera is 5MP. Of course, the VK6735 also comes with Android 5.1 release pre-installed which is the latest available for the current SoC.

Zalman Z11 NEO

Things may have been a bit quiet on the case front with Zalman, but they still offer a wide range of products, including the Z11 NEO, which surprises. The Z11 NEO looks bulky and comes with a great feature set on paper and a small price tag.
