MyDigitalSSD M2X NVMe USB-C Enclosure Review

With USB 3.1 Gen 2 doubling the throughput of the specification up to 10Gbps, we now have a solid mainstream high-performance interface for the masses that keep backwards compatibility for those that haven't made the jump. This allows vendors more flexibility in design so they can offer solutions built for high performance that can also grow with a user.

With the M2X, MyDigitalSSD offers a 2242, 2260 and 2280 compatible enclosure for your NVMe m.2 storage solutions interfaced with USB 3.1 Gen 2 and the Type-C port. They have chosen to use the JMicron JMS583 bridge controller that interfaces the PCIe Gen 3 x2 m.2 to USB 3.1 Gen 2. The enclosure is a single piece aluminum design for the body with aluminum endcaps that are retained with screws. The PCB slides on a set of rails internal to the enclosure. Compatibility includes Windows and macOS systems with an available USB-C or Type-C port. MSRP of the MyDigitalSSD M2X Enclosure comes in at $36.99 with a one-year warranty.
