22 powerbanks review: extra power for your smartphone

All smartphones, tablets, cameras and other gadgets have one thing in common: the battery runs out when you do not have a charger nearby. A powerbank can be a solution in those cases. A portable battery makes sure you can continue. We tested 22 different ones.

With regular usage a modern smartphone can keep up for about a day, but when you are spending a lot of time sending messages, browsing Facebook, surfing the internet or gaming it might just be a problem to make it through the day. Not a disaster if you are at home and have a charger nearby, but if you happen to be commuting or travelling running out of battery is pretty tiresome. A powerbank will then come in handy. Such a mobile battery has one or more USB-connections and usually offers enough capacity to recharge a tablet or smartphone multiple times. The capacity of powerbanks is usually measured in mAh, where the rule of thumb is that more is better. This does not prove true in all situations, because extra capacity means the powerbank is more expensive, bigger and heavier. We tested 22 powerbanks with a minimum capacity of 4000 mAh, and concluded which ones performed the best.

Anidees AI7

The anidees AI7 is exactly the same size as the AI7m, but allows for a full ATX board instead of maxing out at an mATX variant. This is achieved by offering a completely different interior layout. Let's see what this same-looking but different chassis has under the hood!

Corsair Hydro H5 SF CPU Cooler Preview

Last year Corsair introduced the Bulldog small form factor PC at Computex 2015. The CPU and GPU were cooled by their own in-house branded Hydro all in one closed circuit cooling units. The GPU cooling units were also separately available back then. Early this week our H5 SF CPU cooling unit arrived, exclusively aimed to be used with mITX sized motherboards inside a small form factor enclosure. Today we bring you only a preview as we encountered some minor installation woes with our test bed and the latest Hydro release.

Corsair VOID USB Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset Review

In order to confirm the headset sound quality versus the VOID Wireless, we have run the same game assortment which contains Triad Wars, GTA V, The Crew, Carmageddon Reincarnation and AION; while the USB revision is not offering the same liberty of movement, we could experience the same high quality gaming-grade sound, thanks to the included 50mm neodymium drivers and good software support from CUE. The microphone quality is also top notch for its size as we have seen from performing several Skype conferences; one of the pluses we do see with this product is the fact that we do not need to care about the battery life anymore and can keep the lighting system always on, at maximum brightness.

DeepCool Maelstrom 240 Liquid Cooling System Review

DeepCool's Maelstrom 240 is a self contained CPU liquid cooling system consists of a dual fan, 240mm wide aluminum heat exchanger and combination pump head / skived copper waterblock. The Maelstrom 240 is based on the same basic collection of parts that literally dozens of other liquid coolers utilize, but with Frostytech's synthetic thermal test platforms applying up to a 200W heat load, only we can accurately rank how the Maelstrom 240 liquid cooler stacks up against these other all-in-one CPU liquid coolers!

Logitech G410 Atlas Spectrum Mechanical Keyboard Review

Towards the end of 2014, Logitech jumped on the RGB craze with a brand new flagship keyboard, the G910 Orion Spark – not only did the keyboard offer fantastic lighting but it also had a row of additional macro keys and featured Logitech’s own mechanical Romer-G switches. Unfortunately, given its size, it wasn’t quite right for those who prefer a smaller keyboard. However, Logitech doesn’t want to leave those people out, which is why it has launched G410 Atlas Spectrum, cramming the excellent lighting and Romer-G switches into a 10-keyless design.

MSI GT80S 6QF Titan SLI w/ Desktop GTX980's (unboxing)

MSI’s GTX80 Titan was our favourite laptop of 2015. Our original review way back in January last year scored it 9.5 out of 10. It also won our highest award for best laptop of the year 2015. This was the first laptop to incorporate a fully fledged mechanical keyboard, and this year they have decided to incorporate fully fledged GTX980 graphics cards. While we work on the full review, today we present a little taster – our unboxing of what could possibly be the most powerful gaming laptop available. At £4,000 we have high hopes for this monster gaming beast!

Zalman ZM-K700M Mechanical Keyboard Review

I’m picky, and have been described as a perfectionist too many times to count. So it stands to reason that the keyboard, that peripheral attachment that works like a natural extensions of the body for the eSports gamer, becomes a personal choice for many. Keyboards are used for both everyday workload as well as entertainment, so picking the right one is important. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the Zalman ZM-K700M Mechanical Gaming LED Keyboard, which features genuine Cherry MX Red switches with LED backlighting, and programmable macro capability.
