AeroCool XPredator X3 Devil Red Edition Midi Tower Review

It seems that although the most popular PC cases nowadays are mITX and mATX compatible ones there's still a large crowd out there that prefers midi and full towers and thus as expected manufacturers are doing their best to please them too. Now i can't say that I’ve seen many midi towers lately which I’d like to own myself either because they look very plain and/or they lack the features I’d like them to have but the bottom line is that there's nothing new and exciting in the midi tower market as we speak. Well almost nothing to be precise (and fair) since the leading manufacturers may not be focusing in the midi tower market right now (mITX/mATX models seem to be their top priority) but others seem to be doing exactly that and AeroCool is amongst them although the XPredator X3 Devil Red Edition midi tower which we have here with us today is not really one of their latest models.

Many of you know that i love the black/red color combination but that aside the XPredator X3 Devil Red Edition also looks very nice and is one of the largest midi towers we've ever gotten our hands on (it did take a while however since they released it in late 2013). For me at least that's not a bad thing especially since AeroCool had the room to equip it with a hot-swap 2.5" slot, three 5.25" optical drive bays, eight 3.5/2.5" HDD trays, room for up to 9 fans and/or two 240/280mm radiators, dual fan controls and 8 PCI expansion slots. Of course I’d still like it more had AeroCool designed the Xpredator X3 Devil Red Edition as a full tower since that would mean even more space but this features list is not bad at all (certainly much better compared to what most midi towers offer currently). To see however is to believe so let's take a close look and see what AeroCool has brought to the table with their Xpredator X3 Devil Red Edition midi tower.

Dying Light Review

Should we try to save Harran or let the infestation go unabated? I have a hard time answering that, as my own feeling is to fail to recommend Dying Light. Please understand that failing to recommend a game does not mean it is bad. In this case I just do not feel it is that strong a title. The graphics are good, but not perfect, and the story is completely predictable and unoriginal. The gameplay is fun, but it is also fairly unremarkable. Combat works and works well, but there is nothing too special to it, and while free-running is a fun way to cross a city and avoid enemies, it has issues that do break that experience. Sometimes a game will have that one thing that makes it stand out from the rest, like a superb story, amazingly solid gameplay, or impressive graphics that make your eyes smile. More often it is a combination of story, gameplay, and graphics that makes a game stand out. In the case of Dying Light, none of these components stand out, at least for me, and so neither do their combination. That does not make the game bad, and indeed I believe it is a good game and I enjoyed playing. It just does not offer enough for me to recommend it.

Evolve Benchmarked, Performance Review

We've been eagerly anticipating more games based on the latest CryEngine build and now that wait is over: after being delayed from its original October 2014 release date, Evolve has launched this week on PC, Xbox One and PS4. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios (creator of Left 4 Dead), Evolve is the company's latest squad-based co-op shooter and unsurprisingly, it calls for some fairly beefy hardware.

Shuttle XH97V w/ Pentium G3258

We now have the opportunity to test the XH97V from Shuttle. As its model number denotes, this barebone is based on Intel's H97 chipset, making it compatible with 4th generation Haswell CPUs (its cooling system can support up to 65 W TDP CPUs). Shuttle advertises it as a blend of energy efficiency and performance, and our tests show their claims to be true.

Silicon Power Mobile X31 OTG USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Silicon Power has recently introduced its lightweight mobile USB 3.0 OTG drive which can be used to transport and transfer data between multiple mobile devices and while its read speeds are pretty good, it falls a bit short on the writes; considering that the Android and Windows tablets which support this function are mostly USB 2.0, the lower write speeds should not be such a bit inconvenience, but when copying data from our PCs to the drive, we can see it lagging a bit.

XTracPads Carbonic, Ripper, Ripper XXL Review

From a casual gamer perspective, I am sure someone who can game competitively will likely notice a greater improvement than I. Personally, I have had trouble with mouse pads that were too hard, not stiff, but solid cutouts of plastic (I don't even know if they are made anymore really). I have also had issues with mouse pads that accumulate a bunch of gross after a bit of use. I can live with poor or cheap mouse pads, but now that I have had a taste of the other side I really don't want to anymore. I would easily pay $22 at this point to use some of such high quality as the XTracGears. No, I would not likely purchase the monster RipperXXL (that is well outside of my needs), but I see no problem with the others. I do wish they had more interesting designs, but if wishes were fishes, my computer would continuously evolve into the highest end gaming machine available. There are no real downsides to getting an XTracGear gaming mouse pad and at least a couple upsides, so go get one.
