Be quiet! Pure Rock SLIM CPU cooler review

We test and review the be quiet! Pure Rock SLIM CPU Cooler. The cooler might not be the strongest performer on the block, but it is small, agile and intended for 'smaller' builds. Small or not, it is deadly silent but still packs enough punch to cool even a Core i7 4790K, albeit it's not an easy job for this one.

You know, there really aren't any bad performing coolers being produced anymore. For every segment and budget you can find something you need. The market stabilized and within the entire range and scope of heatpipe based coolers there's a certain comfort zone with a corresponding product available. As a result, most of the coolers available on the market are all adequate at the very least. There are always exceptions to this, there's a handful of manufacturers out there that offer the really interesting stuff, the kit and gear that really stand out from the cooling crowd, the hardware you and me crave and need so badly... that is in the enthusiast domain of gaming hardware. And that's where we need to make a stop at Be Quiet! as they tick boxes man!

When it comes to building a new PC most of your focus is going to be on things like your video card, your CPU, SSDs, and maybe your case. That is because those are the components that affect the performance of your PC and with your case, it is the most visible component. So I completely understand why your power supply isn’t at the top of your list. You do have to remember though that a poor quality power supply can take out all of those other expensive components in an instant. I recently started looking at components for a new build for my main rig to replace the monster Fridge build. For the power supply, I wanted to go with a lower wattage because I had only planned on having two video cards, but I wanted to stick with Corsair and I needed fully modular to change out the cables later. So the Corsair HX850i came to mind. With its Platinum 80 Plus certification and a few cool features. The build it is going in is coming along, so today I’m going to take a look at the HX850i and see what it is all about.

Freshtech Solutions Aerocool DS230 GTX 1050 Ti Gaming PC Review

Since the GTX 1080’s release, we’ve been inundated with systems utilising this astounding piece of graphics hardware. Even though the performance is staggering, the asking price in the UK remains extremely high, especially for custom models with a substantial factory overclock. Unfortunately. the GTX 1080 can cost more than an entire budget gaming system and recent price hikes have cemented the card’s position as a niche product. The overwhelming majority of people cannot justify spending so money on the GTX 1080 and opt for a less powerful solution. In the past, cheap graphics cards have struggled to provide an enjoyable gaming experience due to the consistent stutter, and jarring frame dips. Thankfully, the situation has improved and GPUs like the RX 460 and the GTX 1050Ti can cope with modern games at modest settings.

After spending quite a lot of time reviewing elite-grade systems, it’s refreshing to critique something which can be purchased by a wider audience. The highly-respected system integrator Freshtech Solutions agreed with this approach and decided to send an entry-level gaming rig. More specifically, the Freshtech Solutions Aerocool DS230 utilises an Intel Core i5-6500, 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz DDR4 RAM and the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB Mini. Additionally, the system is powered by a 600-watt Corsair CX600 PSU and comes with a 240GB Hynix Sl300 boot SSD. Please note, an operating system isn’t provided with the default package and the lack of a secondary drive may prove problematic. Nevertheless, the configuration is going to have some concessions to maintain an affordable price point. Whether or not the right areas have been prioritised remains to be seen.

GIGABYTE FORCE K85 RGB Review

Mechanical keyboards are, for good reason, dominating the gaming keyboards of choice for the majority of people. Though there has been a shift in popularity of the full feature, large sized gaming keyboards to a more compact, frameless design. This has been popularised by pro esports gamers for sake of portability and convenience as well as reducing the overall area required from the desktop.

The FORCE K85 RGB features an exposed switch, or 'island' design to heart creating an elegant and compact aesthetic that as a side effect is also easy to clean and maintain. GIGABYTE have chosen to use robust mechanical switches with a 2mm actuation point that are rated for a 70 million key press lifespan. Other gamer friendly features include a dedicated Windows lock button and a selectable 6 to 64 key anti-ghosting setting. Despite being a no frills design, it also affords some customisable RGB lighting which is a fair selling point considering that the majority of the competition in this price range tends to offer just a single colour.

Huawei Honor 8 Review: A Stylish, Affordable Android Smartphone

Priced at $350 currently on Amazon, the Honor 8 looks and feels like a more expensive phone. It's also fairly well equipped with a Hisilicon Kirin 950 SoC boasting an octa-core processing engine with an i5 co-processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage that you can expand with a microSD card. That right there is a potent foundation...

On the software side, the Honor 8 is pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow glazed with Huawei's custom EMUI 4.1 interface skinned on top. Rumblings on the web suggest that both will be updated relatively soon to Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5, though nothing official has been announced yet...

HyperX Alloy FPS Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

HyperX used to be considered the gaming division of Kingston solely because their system memory and solid state drives offered the high performance that you needed to power a serious gaming computer. While those products are still what I would consider the core business of HyperX, they now offer other items that should also appeal to gamers. We have looked at a few of their gaming headsets in recent reviews, and this time around we will be looking at their first gaming keyboard.

The HyperX Alloy FPS mechanical gaming keyboard is shown in the promotional image above, and from this view you may not be able to see how unique it really is.
