AMD announces its second-generation Ryzen Mobile processors

AMD's minimal presence in the laptop market during the dark days of Bulldozer and its progeny is no secret to anyone who follows this stuff. The company made big step toward reversing its fortunes with the release of its Ryzen Mobile APUs at the end of 2017, though. In our test of the Ryzen 5 2500U, we called it "AMD's best and most competitive mobile APU" ever. Now, AMD looks set to continue that trend onward and upward with its second-generation Ryzen Mobile APUs.

Coreprio Can Help AMD Threadripper Windows Performance, But Linux Still Leading Performance Race

Rolled out recently was Bitsum's Coreprio third-party freeware utility designed to off better Threadripper 2970WX/2990WX performance by its own implementation of AMD Dynamic Local Mode compared to the default Windows scheduler behavior. Here are some benchmarks of Windows 10 against Linux while trying out CorePrio's NUMA Dissociater mode to see how much it helps the performance compared to Ubuntu Linux. Additionally, tests are included of Windows Server 2019 to see if that server edition of Windows is able to offer better performance on this AMD HEDT NUMA platform.

CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Cooler Review

It’s not hard to notice that AMD Threadripper is not really popular, even though there is a lot of noise in the press and tests results are great. Also, not all manufacturers of various CPU cooling solutions are convinced to release new coolers for AMD TR4 socket. Some brands like CRYORIG are releasing mounting kits for already well-known coolers. Since we have CRYORIG’s top performing cooler – the R1 Ultimate and mentioned TR4 adapter, then we will test it on AMD Threadripper platform which is based on the 1920X processor. Maybe not a 32 core monster but still good enough to tell us if buying the adapter is a good idea when we already have great performing cooler from CRYORIG family.

FlexiSpot SanoDesk Pro Height Adjustable Desk Review

Im no doctor, but the consensus appears to be clear: sitting for long periods of time isnt healthy. There are lots of jobs where prolonged sitting can be a problem, and writing about and reviewing PC hardware is certainly one of them.
Our knowledge of the dangers of prolonged sitting or, more positively, the benefits of standing while working, isnt new. Indeed, several years ago when I first started my career focused on online writing I purchased what was then a relatively novel motorized sit-to-stand desk from Steelcase.
That Steelcase desk, which I continue to use to this day, is solid and well built, but it was insanely expensive at the time I bought it. Since then lots of companies have entered the market to offer cheaper sit-to-stand solutions, but few are high quality or feature-rich enough to justify their price points.
In my time looking at options ranging from Ikea to boutique companies specializing only in the standing desk product category, Ive found that desks either lack features such as height memory, feel cheap with loud jerky motor movement, or involve a complicated and time consuming assembly process. There are good options out there, of course, and while theyre far cheaper than my original Steelcase desk, theyre still quite expensive.
