LostCircuits takes a look at the AMD Phenom II 955 X4 Black Edition processor
AMD is closing in on the performance lead of Intel CPUs. There are many applications where Intel's Nehalem still has the undisputed edge but at the same time, especially in some of the game applications, the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition showed itself as a formidable opponent of anything coming from Intel. Despite what we heard and read earlier, also the migration to DDR3 memory boosts performance but the benefits are limited at this point by the slow NB / L3 cache, as our data rather convincingly show. In other words, this is the main area where AMD needs to focus with respect to performance since the memory and the CPU both can deliver more than what the NB bottleneck can handle at this time.AMD Phenom II 955 X4 Black Edition Review
