AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition CPU Review @ HotHardware.com

AMD is launching a brand new flagship desktop processor today, dubbed the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. As you can probably surmise from its name--if you're familiar with AMD's naming convention, that is--the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is virtually identical to the 955 it supplants at the top of AMD's desktop processor line-up, save for the 965's higher default clock speed. Whereas the 955 clocked in at a speedy 3.2GHz, the new 965 arrives at a lofty 3.4GHz, making it the highest clocked CPU to come from AMD to date. Click the link below and check it out...

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Review: Watt's the Problem Here?

AMD has released another high end processor into the fray, and Intel had better watch out. Sorta. While aimed at the Q9550 and Q9650 parts, the X4 965 is priced at a competitive $245, thereby pushing all of the previous Phenom IIs before it into much more affordable territories. Not all is perfect with this chip, but does its imperfections cause it to fall when facing the competition? Read on...

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition review @ Elite Bastards

In simple terms, the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is a basic clock speed bump from AMD's previous flagship CPU, the 955 Black Edition. This new addition to the family sees the CPU's clock speed increased from 3.2GHz on the 955 Black Edition to 3.4GHz, while of course this part retains the unlocked multiplier made so popular by the company's "Black Edition" branding, and thus making overclocking a cinch. AMD expect Phenom II 965 Black Edition parts to be slightly better overclockers than their immediate predecessors, although of course we'll have to wait and see if this rings true for ourselves, while power consumption is only expected to be very slightly higher for this new part.

Phenom II X4 965 BE processor review

MD today launches their fastest quad-core processor to date, the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. Head on over to the link below where we'll start up our in-depth review of the Phenom II X4 965BE processor. AMD's Phenom II processor architecture is really working out well for them. It's a problem free processor series, a very value aware processor, with very decent power consumption and more importantly for AMD, yields are just top notch.

As such, today they release a processor with an all new high clock frequency, yes... 3400 MHz, and why would they you might wonder? Well because they can, plain and simple

AMD Phenom II 965 Processor Review @ OCC

When it came to the multiplier, anything over 18.5x and the computer would not boot at all. Even pushing the voltage on the CPU, NB and the HT just as I did with the Phenom II X4 955, I could not get any more out of it without getting too hot and blue screening. When it came to pushing the reference clock, I hit the wall at 211MHz. Just as with the multiplier any more would make the system unstable. During the overclocking I really had to watch the temps because they sat in the low 60C range; the maximum specified temperature for the Phenom II X4 965 is 62C, which made me nervous. It did remain stable so the final settings I ran for the overclock were 3.903GHz at 1.5v and memory speeds of 1689MHz at 7-7-7-20 timings.

AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Processor Review @ Legit Reviews

Today, AMD is announcing a new flagship processor, the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. This is nothing more than a speed bump for the Dragon platform, but all of these speed bumps are starting to add up and the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor runs at an impressive 3.4GHz. The performance should scale predictably and the price of the Phenom II X4 965 BE will be $245, which is what the Phenom II X4 955 was back in May 2009 when it first launched.

The AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Processor is a nice addition to their desktop lineup. The fact that the price is the same as the Phenom II X4 955 processor that came out just three months ago might upset a few people, but for the rest of the consumers it means that the prices on all the other processors just went down. AMD has a very impressive processor lineup and if the promised 'bundle discounts' arrive the prices will be just that much sweeter...

TechwareLabs Reviews the AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Quad Core Processor

With each new release from AMD they are able to fine tune their processors a bit more than before. We are talking about more than just adding a few exta clock cycles or a bump in speed. There are more subtle changes that result in a product that meets consumers needs much better. AMD has not forgotten that many of their consumers are overclockers and we will be of course taking a look at how the newly announced Phenom II 965 Black Edition does in the overclocking arena but first lets take a look at the shiny new CPU.

News: AMD's Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor reviewed at TR

The Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor could compute Pi to an insane number of digits during the time it takes to pronounce its full name, in part because it runs at a rather high-strung clock rate of 3.4GHz. But mostly because of the name.

NEWS: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE

Out of the box processors have been stuck at 3.2 - 3.33 GHz for quite a number of years now. Clock for clock they have been getting better but the top end speed has been 3.2 - 3.3 GHz. AMD pulled one out of the hat and fielded the Phenom 2 X4 965 with a native frequency of 3.4GHz. To achieve this record breaking frequency they had raise the TDP on the Phenom 2 X4 965 to 140w and bump the voltage to 1.4, previously the Phenom 2 X4 955 which ran at 3.2GHz was the flagship chip and it ran at 1.35v with a TDP of 125w. The Phenom 2 X4 965 promises blazing speed, an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking, and with a little maturity on the CPU family we're hoping a little more overclocking headroom.
