Sapphire Radeon HD6950 Video Card Review @ Ninjalane
Ninjalane has posted their review of the new Radeon HD6950 card, seems to be a great enthusiast card, even if you can't overclock it much, yet. AMD decided to mix things up a bit when they released the HD6000 series first by releasing the midrange cards first and next by using previous high end naming schemes to describe them. So while the HD5870 was the previous generation "bad-boy" the new HD6870 was nothing more than a docile pony designed to give the nVidia GTX 460 some company.

While AMD’s 6800 series included solid products, the re-naming strategy confused many enthusiast users. AMD effectively moved its product stack down one, and it caught a lot of people out. Then there were the price wobbles around launch time.

AMD Radeon HD 6950 & 6970 CrossFire Video Card Reviews @ Legit Reviews
Today AMD released their Radeon HD 6900 series of video cards that use the new Cayman GPU. The Radeon HD 690 series consists of the Radeon HD 6950 and Radeon HD 6970 video cards and we have an in-depth review of them for you today. We also run them both in CrossFire to see how they scale and do all the usual tests that we throw at new video cards!

We knew coming into this review that AMD's Radeon HD 6970 video card wouldn't be able to beat out the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 and we know that will upset many of the AMD fans that have been waiting for this card. AMD told us that NVIDIA would have them beat when it comes to single card performance, but that they would have a much better price point. At $369 the AMD Radeon HD 6970 is priced to compete with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 and we have to say the two cards traded blows. In the 11 benchmarks that we ran the GeForce GTX 570 won six and the Radeon HD 6970 won five of them. As you can see these two cards are very close in terms of gaming performance and even the price tag is pretty close...

AMD HD 6970 and HD 6950 Review @ OCC
OCC has published a review on the AMD HD 6970 and HD 6950

Many will be disappointed that the HD 6970 did not come out and just lay the smack down on the GTX 580. But if you can get performance that close for a price tag that's $150 less expensive you have a win. In that respect I think AMD hit the mark. The HD 6950 looks to play in the field just under the level of the GTX 570 and the outgoing HD 5870 and in that area it hit the mark and delivers the performance to hold this area for now.

AMD Radeon HD 6970 Review
Roughly this time last month we were testing a variety of graphics cards in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops video game. I remember picking up a Radeon HD 4870 and thinking to myself “wow I've had this thing forever”. The follow up to this card was Radeon HD 5870, which a solid success for AMD as it remained their flagship single-GPU product for roughly 15 months, and it is only being replaced today.

After a short delay, AMD brings us the new Radeon HD 6970. Code-named Cayman XT this new graphics processor features 2640 million transistors, 23% more than that of the 5870. Like the new Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 and GTX 570 graphics cards which are more refined versions of the GTX 480 and GTX 470 graphics cards, the Radeon HD 6970 is essentially a more refined version of the 5870. To find out exactly what this means, read on...

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB Video Card
So we checked out the HD 6950 already and it's time to check out the big brother to the card; the HD 6970. The HD 6970 and HD 6950 have finally arrived, bringing with them improvements aplenty but will it be enough to dethrone NVIDIA?

Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB Video Card
I can honestly say I wasn't 100% sure we would see this day, this year. Twelve months ago it was all about the GTX 480 which at this stage was already delayed by a month. Jump forward twelve months and the HD 6900 series which was due to come out this time last month wasn't here.

Little information on the model on all levels didn't help increase confidence levels, but fortunately it doesn't matter now; the card did make it this year, and we know that stock has been shipped to suppliers and it seems shipped in decent quantity, too. AMD has managed to scrape in just before the holidays and the question on everyone's mind is, was it worth the wait? And do I buy this over one of the NVIDIA offerings?
