AMD Ryzen 5 3600X and 3400G CPU/APU Review

AMD has disrupted the market. With the launch of their Ryzen 3000 series, AMD is finally giving Intel a run for their money, and the CPU industry is more exciting than it's been in years. When I reviewed the Ryzen 3700X and 3900X last month, I found them to be some of the best-value CPUs you could buy. But what about gamers who fall more toward the middle of the market or only want to do some light gaming? AMD has an answer and that?s what we?re out to investigate today. Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi Review

With all of the launches stacked, when I covered the Ryzen launch of the 3000 series of CPUs I only really had the chance to touch on the X570 chipset that was launching with it for a little while. The motherboards that AMD sent with their launch kit were put to use immediately for testing and only over the last few days have I had to a chance to finally take a closer look at them and do motherboard specific testing. Today I want to check out the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi that has been pulling double duty as our CPU test platform and our GPU test platform. The Hero isn’t Asus’s highest-end X570 board, but it is close so I’m excited to see what they have packed into it.

ASUS RoG Swift PG35VQ Monitor Review

In this review, we will take a look at some Ultra Wide slash HDR gaming as we have the ASUS RoG Swift PG35VQ in da house. At 3440 x 1440 pixels, this monitor can manage 200 Hz combined with 'G-sync Ultimate'. That eliminates stutter and tearing whilst gaming in HDR. That HDR is rated at 1000 nits and the panel has local dimming divided over 512 zones.

iStorage is a company we were introduced to earlier this year when we had to chance to check out their diskashur2 External Hard Drive. This was more of a portable hard drive, so today we are taking a look at the diskashur DT2 which is offered in capacities all the way up to 14TB. iStorage touts this drive as the world’s first and only NCSC CPA, FIPS 140-2 Level 2/3, NLNCSA BSPA and NATO restricted level certified encrypted desktop hard drive! The drive offers AES-XTS 256-bit full disk hardware encryption and this is software-free encryption as you need to enter a PIN number on the drive to even access it. Besides being super-secure the diskashur DT2 is a USB 3.1 drive offering sequential read and write speeds of 225 MB/s and 223 MB/s respectively.

Transcend ESD350C Portable SSD Review

Portable SSDs have evolved from using standard 2.5" and mSATA solutions to taking full advantage of m.2 SATA and NVMe solutions with the introduction of USB 3.1 Gen 2. Along with this change, we have seen a number of devices move towards the small form factor pocket-sized market; the ESD350C is Transcends latest.

With a rich history in the NAND Flash and memory market, Transcend has enjoyed a solid range of portable SSDs. The ESD lineup goes way back to the beginning with the ESD400, a drive that I reviewed nearly five years ago. The 350C is their latest solution, offering three capacities; 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB. The enclosure has been revamped with a blue silicon sleeve that protects the drive and offers increased durability. Performance is rated at 1050 MB/s read, and 950 MB/s write thanks to the inclusion of USB-C in its proper gen 2 form.

ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2060 Super Mini Review

Zotac's GeForce RTX 2060 Super Mini is priced at $400, matching the NVIDIA Founders Edition. As the name suggests, it is a bit shorter than the FE, which should help improve compatibility with smaller cases. Unfortunately the card isn't overclocked and its power limit isn't increased either.

Zyxel Multy U AC2100 Tri-Band Mesh Review

While Zyxel doesn't have the prowess of a Netgear, Linksys or ASUS in the consumer networking space, behind the scenes, they have built a legit SMB networking platform that rivals Meraki, Netgear Insight and many others. More recently they have been moving into the consumer space with the launch of the Multy X and now Multy U mesh platforms.

The Multy U is part of a quickly expanding ecosystem of solutions over at Zyxel. This platform is a tri-band AC2100 class solution offering 300MBps on the 2.4GHz band and 866Mbps on the 5GHz. A secondary 5GHz band is dedicated to backhaul between nodes and offers the same 866MBps. As for hardware this platform is built on Realtek silicon with the RTL8198CS SoC operating at 1GHz across two cores paired with 256MB of memory. 512MB of flash has been added for the firmware.
