Agents of Mayhem Review

The graphics do look good, but, due in part to the art style, do not impress me, at least not when just looking at the environment. As I said, this in part comes down to the style of the art, which is not going to be visually impressive with its almost cartoon coloring, making large areas of characters and objects one color. That is unless you look closer and see there is a texture to the material that adds depth to it, especially when combined with the lighting and shadows. The streets would be a good example of what I mean, as from a distance, they look to be one color, but if you examine the screenshots closely, you will see they have more details, and it even looks like they are reflected on surfaces. The effects make the
world pop and that is when they look best.

AMD launches Ryzen Threadripper 1900X

Today AMD launches first 8-core Threadripper. This is currently the cheapest processor for X399 motherboards. AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900X for 549 USD The new processor will cost 50 USD more than Ryzen 7 1800X. The thing is, you can easily find the 1800X for a lower price from most retailers (430 - 460 USD), plus the X399 platform is only a month old, so the lack of cheaper X399 motherboards makes the gap between the two processor even bigger.

AMD Ryzen Gaming PC - August 2017

This computer system is specifically geared towards gaming at WQHD resolution. That means a PC with a high-end graphics card and a processor that is fast enough to support the GPU, but also a fast monitor to display the rendered frames in the best way.

Because there is much discussion about whether an AMD or an Intel processor should be inside a gaming rig, we split up our system advices. You're now reading the AMD-based advice, the Intel version can be found in a different article.

AOC PDS241 review: Porsche design

In order to distinguish yourself with a Full HD monitor, you have to really make something special of it. AOC has recognized this, and the company recently introduced two monitors with a special design. The PDS241 and PDS271 come from a design house with a very well-known name: F.A. Porsche. We tinkered with the AOC PDS241 and found out that, luckily, there are also positve things to say about it that are not about its looks.

ASUS Video Card RMA Experience and Turnaround Time

Most review sites don't cover the RMA process, but trying to get a motherboard or video card repaired can be a truly painful experience. We recently had an ASUS ROG STRIX-RX480-8G-GAMING video card fail on us. It didn't blow up in a ball of fire and smoke, but while gaming something would go terribly wrong and the system would restart. The card wasn't a review sample, was never taken apart and believe it or not it actually never saw a day being punished in a cryptocurrency mine being forced to mine Ethereum. Here we had a legit video card that died a natural death! Follow our journey getting it replaced...

ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550VD Review

A viable alternative to the Dell XPS 15? Laptops promising gaming credentials tend to come with a choice of visage. For the more bullish consumer, there are mammoth solutions touting extreme performance while laughing in the face of portability, and at the opposite end of the spectrum, reserved gamers can choose from sleeker options such as the Razer Blade and Gigabyte Aero 15.

Asus tends to play on both sides of the fence and the manufacturer is renewing its focus on the streamlined end of the market with the introduction of the ZenBook Pro UX550VD, priced from £1,200.

Corsair Commander Pro: fan, lighting, temperature control w/ Link

The idea behind the Corsair Commander Pro control unit is pretty straightforward. If you build a new PC with a bunch of Corsair peripherals that use the Corsair Link ecosystem you will find you are spoiled for choice. You could well use a Hydro All In One liquid cooler on your CPU (and perhaps another Hydro on your graphics card), a handful of HD120/HD140 RGB fans, a Link enabled power supply and a few Node lighting strips. Add that lot together and you may well run out of USB headers on your motherboard, and will also have a bunch of extra cables and control units to install and keep tidy.

This is where the Corsair Commander Pro comes into the equation. You simply connect the captive USB 2.0 cable on the Commander Pro to an internal header on your motherboard and power the device with the captive SATA cable. Both cables are long enough to give a good degree of flexibility when you install the Commander Pro inside your PC. Install the latest version of Corsair’s Link software and you’re ready to start connecting your accessories.

HP S700 Pro 1 TB SSD Review

We test a new HP S700 Pro SSD series, the rather properly volume sized 1024 GB (1 TB), model which we will review. The S700 Pro series offers a compete range of good performing storage products, yet price-competitive at mainstream to high-end class SATA3 performance.

Lian Li PC-O11 Review

With the PC-O11, Lian Li has a high-end cube case in its portfolio. As with all of their cases in their portfolio this one has also been made from aluminum and to top things off, there are side panels, which have been made from tempered glass. Apart from that there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to building a custom water cooled rig.
