FullOn3D has posted up a report on AMD´s Thunderbird. The report consists of several parts that may be of interest:

1) An Interview with AMD´s Drew Prairie about Thunderbird
2) A Performance Analysis of Thunderbird compared to Athlon K75 both at 1 GHz using business application tests, 3D benchmarks, scientific benchmarks and the Linpacks benchmark.
3) An Industry Interview concerning Thunderbird support with VIA, SiS, Matrox, NVIDIA, Abit, Gigabyte, Shuttle, MSI/Microstar, DFI, AOpen, Iwill.
4) The Press Release and AMD´s own performance benchmarks, Thunderbird whitepaers and Thunderbird Presentation.

Here is a clip from the report:
"The major difference between the original AMD Athlon processor and the enhanced AMD Athlon processor is the full-speed, on-die L2 cache. We integrated 256Kb of L2 cache onto the processor die to enhance performance, which is especially important as the frequency of the processor continues to increase. The AMD Athlon processor
can now take advantage of L2 memory that scales in frequency along with the processor."
