The hot topic on the internet this past weekend was probably the release of Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 2000. There's nothing quite like an MS-based media event or product release to stir the virtual soup of online opinion. Every computer geek (including myself) in the world, whether a customer or critic of the Redmond giant, has his or her own thoughts on all things MS-related, and very few of us seem shy in the sharing of those opinions. Even the national media, TV and/or print, gets in on the act, as witnessed by the extensive coverage the new OS has enjoyed in the past week. But for your average PC gamer, the one overriding concern has been whether or not 2000 is a viable replacement for, or even supplement to, Windows 95/98 as a gaming platform.
