CORSAIR Carbide Series 678C Low Noise Tempered Glass Case Review

CORSAIRs Carbide Series has a new low-noise option in the 678C, a mid-tower enclosure with internal sound damping panels and full tempered glass side panel. Convenience features include the hinge and magnetic closure of the glass side panel, along with a hinged front panel that opens to reveal the front fans and corresponding screen filter - and a rare 5.25-inch bay which allows for installation of an optical drive for those of us who still use discs (this author included).

So does the Carbide 678C provide a compelling mix of features in the premium segment of the case market, and provide real competition for the Define R6 from Fractal Design against which it will be inevitably compared? Lets find out.

Icy Dock flexiDock MB795SP-B Review

The problem solver company. That's what I consider Icy Dock. Granted, I'm a storage product reviewer, so I'm placed directly in the line of fire for storage product problems, but this is the company that gets me out of the chaos. Icy Dock is my flak jacket in the storage battle.

With the rise of M.2 and other form factor NVMe SSDs increased the capacity of my test lab. Z270 and newer chipsets from Intel perform great with NVMe, but the SATA performance dropped off slightly on everything above Z97. My consumer storage test rack features nine 4u rackmount systems but those just cover the synthetic tests. There are also two dedicated systems for the Final Fantasy: Stormblood test and another two dedicated to enterprise testing. All but four systems see SATA drives, either 2.5-inch SSDs or 3.5" HDDs. Due to the space limitations of my four racks, some of the systems are at the very top, and I need a stepladder to load drive, at least I did until now.

Philips Brilliance 499P9H Review

Productivity gone long. It's a great time to be interested in the world of digital displays. A rollable or foldable future is seemingly within reach, and if you just can't wait, there are plenty of fascinating panels already on the market. The one's that have really caught my eye in recent months are the mega-wide 49in PC monitors from the likes of Dell, Samsung and Philips.

Each has its unique characteristics - the Dell is a 60Hz IPS, the Samsung a 120Hz QLED and the Philips a 70Hz VA - but all feature an intriguing 5,120x1,440 resolution. These are, for all intents and purposes, two QHD monitors with no distracting bezel in the middle.
