ADATA XPG SX8000 PCIe NVMe 512GB SSD Review

If you are looking for a new M.2 PCIe NVMe you are in for a treat today as we will be looking at the ADATA XPG SX8000 512GB M.2 form factor Solid-State Drive (SSD) that utilizes the super fast PCIe Gen3x4 interface with NVMe 1.2 support. Building a new system and using a SATA III (6Gbps) interface is sacrilege as who wants to be bottlenecked at ~560 MB/s speeds. The new ADATA XPG SX8000 SSD series blows that away with sequential read speeds of up to 2,500 MB/s (2.4GB/s) and up to 1,100 MB/s sequential write speeds...

AMD Ryzen 5 CPU series launching on April 11

The flagship offer is the Ryzen 5-1600X, a 6-core/12-thread SKU with 16MB of L3 cache, working at 3.6GHz base and 4.0GHz Turbo clock as well as the XFR technology, which should boost the overclocking capability depending on the CPU cooling. The same goes for the Ryzen 5 1600 SKU, which lacks XFR feature and works at slightly lower 3.2GHz base and 3.6GHz Turbo clocks.
The flagship 4-core/8-thread SKU is the Ryzen 5 1500X, featuring 8MB of L3 cache and working at 3.5GHz base and 3.7GHz Turbo clocks. This one also features the XFR technology and should provide decent competition to Intel's Core i3 and mainstream Core i5 CPUs. The Ryzen 5 1400, lacks XFR and works at 3.2GHz base and 3.4GHz Turbo clocks, and should be the workhorse of the current lineup and the cheapest option for those wanting to get on the Ryzen train, at least so far.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU Review

Ryzen 7 has already proven to be a worthy contender for Intel’s LGA 2011-3 set of processors thanks to its similar, or sometimes better, performance levels and significantly cheaper cost. That metric is stretched even further with the 8C16T Ryzen 7 1700 that ships at just £330. At a relative bargain price compared to the higher-end Ryzen 7 SKUs, never mind Intel’s £1000 octa-core part, Ryzen 7 1700 operates at a reduced clock speed out-of-the-box and is given a 65W TDP rating. You also get a decent Wraith Spire CPU cooler thrown into the bundle.

Project Build: Crush – Part 6 – I can’t leave things alone

Well, things have been extremely busy and with that, I haven’t been able to follow up on the Crush project build recently. AMD and Intel both had big launches that pushed everything back and I just couldn’t fit these into the publishing schedule. That said I have still been working on things. More specifically I have been making a few tweaks after living with the build for a while. I said I was all finished a few articles ago then I just had to paint the cards. Well with them painted I had to do something about the Intel 750 Series drive to match and I also noticed just how much dust and dirt was in the case after a few weeks so today I’m going to deal with both of those issues.

RAIDMAX Monster II Review

The Monster II has a different look to it. With the deep grooved front fascia and top section, you can't really confuse it with other cases. That really makes this case stand out. But it is not flashy or over the top either. It just looks good. I do like the top I/O panel with the USB 3.0 ports up where they don't stick out. Front mounts are fine, but I am always a little paranoid that I am going to catch a flash drive as I walk by and snap it off. Not with this case.
