ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that AGP 8X, the newest AGP interface announced this week by Intel Corporation, will be a key element of the company´s strategy to develop 3D products that will continue to deliver industry-leading performance.
The AGP 8X interface is a 32-bit wide bus that will itself double the current AGP 4X transfer speed to 533MHz. Intel will release the new specification, Rev 0.9, in August 2000. The industry-leading RADEON graphics chip from ATI takes full advantage of the current AGP 4X specification today and selected future RADEON products will be ready with AGP 8X support when the new interface is released.
