MSIs Next Haswell-E Teaser: X99S Gaming 9 AC

The increase in leaks and teasers regarding X99 makes for some compelling reading. Shortly after showing off their X99S SLI PLUS on Facebook, a couple of Gaming 9 AC renders seem to have been posted as well. The X99S Gaming 9 AC, as the name suggests, represents the top member of MSI’s gaming motherboard range if previous range identifiers are to be continued. Along with the 802.11ac support, the board looks like it will have eight DDR4 slots, five PCIe slots with SLI and Crossfire supported, an M.2 slot up to 2280, SATA Express, ten SATA 6 Gbps ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, upgraded audio and a Killer E2200 series network interface.

PNY GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC Single & SLI Review

Though they are normally associated with being one of the few board partners entrusted with NVIDIA’s Quadro lineup, PNY also has a relatively large and expanding stable of GeForce products as well. The GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC is their flagship single GPU card and while it doesn’t have a well-marketed name like Classified, Matrix, Lightning or Super Overclock but unlike those indirect competitors, its price is quite a bit lower. PNY intends the XLR8 OC series to compete against the likes of ASUS’ DirectCU II OC, Gigabyte’s Windforce OC and MSI’s Gaming-branded cards. In the face of such entrenched competition, the GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC will need to emphasize its relative value.

One of the major contributors to PNY’s value-added equation is their inclusion of a lifetime warranty with all of their cards which is backed up by North America-based tech support. With EVGA quietly dropping out of the lifetime warranty game, PNY is the only company around which backs their cards for a term longer than three years. Granted, a few board partners allow you to purchase extended warranties but this one is offered for free and if our experience is any indication, their customer support is top notch as well.

Step by step: How to assemble a custom watercooling set in your pc

Some time ago we published an article on assembling a watercooling set yourself. How to get this into your PC build is explained in this workshop step by step.

We use components from Highflow.nl for this workshop. Our existing build is an air cooled PC, sporting a Intel Core i7 4770K processor, ASRock Z87 OC Formula motherboard and ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II GPU. A very important warning before you start with water cooling, use a case with an abundance of space to avoid problems. We are using Phanteks Enthoo Primo, an ideal case, as it as among other clever features, a special place to build in your reservoir.
