Budget All-round PC - May 2015

The all-round PC is a PC with comprehensive features for around £650 - £750 that can do a little bit of everything. It should have enough speed and capacity to meet your needs for some time. Currently it can run all applications, and you're able to upgrade it with small future investments when you need more power or storage capacity.

Surfing, gaming, business applications, photo and video editing should all be possible on the all-round PC without giving you the feeling that it's lacking in performance.

This means a fast processor and graphics card with an excellent price/ performance ratio, in combination with more than enough memory and storage space. Let's not forget a good computer case and a power supply that will remain energy efficient and silent enough for some years to come. Since the monitor, mouse and keyboard will be used daily you should definitely not skimp on these peripherals.

Kingston HyperX FURY Pro Gaming Mouse Pad

I’m not sure if everyone else has been watching, but Kingston has been slowly expanding their product lines a little. They are obviously known for their memory and later their SSDs and flash drives. But they have also been dabbling in headsets with their HyperX brand. They started out by partnering with other manufactures but recently they have introduced their own headsets and they have been very popular from what I have seen. Well around that time they also quietly introduced a line of mouse pads. I guess they figure that a HyperX fan might be interested in keeping the HyperX trend going with a mouse pad. So today I’m going to take a quick look at the HyperX FURY Pro Gaming Mouse Pad and see what they have going on.

MSI X99A Gaming 7 Motherboard Review

Some of you may not believe this but enthusiast computer hardware and gaming tend to go hand in hand. Sure there are assumptions on both sides like “Hardware enthusiasts are hardcore overclockers and build elaborate water cooling loops” while “Gamers care only about sound quality and which mechanical switch is in their keyboards” Truth is, neither are mutually exclusive. For instance you would be hard pressed to find a hardware enthusiast that doesn’t play video games and some gamers like to know their system is powerful enough to play games with enough eye candy to melt your brain.

In this review I’m looking at the MSI X99A Gaming 7 motherboard. As the name suggests this is a X99 enabled motherboard prepared in MSI Gaming trim and is really a perfect example of what a high-end gaming motherboard should look like.

OCZ Arc 100 (240GB) Review

A budget drive with mainstream performance. OCZ Storage Solutions has revamped its solid-state drive (SSD) line-up since being acquired by Toshiba in January last year. The current consumer portfolio runs from the Arc 100 through to the Vector 180, sandwiching the Vertex and Radeon R7 drives in-between, and there's broad scope in terms of capacity and performance.

Arguably the most important SSD is the entry-level Arc 100, because it's easier to convince users to switch to SSDs when cost becomes less of an issue, and OCZ sells the drive in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB models.
