AMD Launches Enthusiast A10-7860K APU, New Mainstream Processors And Wraith Cooler, Tested

As it turns out, AMD wasn’t done making announcements back at CES 2016. Today we’ve got news of some more new APUs, processors, fansink coolers, motherboard updates, and we’ve gotten our hands on an AMD Wraith cooler for some in-house testing.

In addition to the A10-7890K announced at CES, AMD also has a trio of additional APUs / processors coming down the pipeline -- the A10-7860K, the A6-7470K, the Athlon X4 845 and even a new cooler dubbed "Wraith" as well...

AMD Wraith Cooler

With both AMD and Intel, the stock coolers that they bundle with their CPUs seem like they have been the same forever. There have been changes in the Intel cooler over the years but AMD has stuck with it, mostly because their mounting system has been consistent forever. Well this year at CES AMD announced changes in theirs. They brought their new Wraith cooler to CES and were showing off the performance. Well last week they sent out their new cooler along with the AMD FX 8370 CPU. We have tested the FX 8370 before but it does give me a chance to see how the new cooler performs. So today I’m going to test the new coolers cooling and noise performance as well as the old AMD cooler to see how they compare.

BitFenix Pandora ATX Review

Pandora ATX is the name of BitFenix's latest compact and elegant ATX case. Despite it's rather small dimensions it's possible to build a high-end product based on this enclosure. Apart from that there are quite a few interesting features and there is even a version with integrated LCD display. Compared to the older version, which was only compatible with mATX motherboards, this model also supports custom watercooling setup and even 360mm radiators.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 980Ti X3 Ultra DHS Graphics Card Review

NVIDIA’s GTX 980Ti has proved to be a very popular choice among hardware enthusiasts requiring extreme performance at demanding resolutions. Whether you’re opting for a 21:9 3440×1440 60Hz panel, 4K display or high refresh rate 1440P monitor, there’s very few single card configurations on the market capable of dealing with advanced AA, complex tessellation and other visually taxing effects while driving a large number of pixels. Technically, the Titan X is NVIDIA’s flagship product and its 12GB frame buffer initially appears like an enticing proposition. However, the price to performance ratio is quite poor especially when you consider the 980Ti is based on the same GM200 silicone and only exhibits a few cost saving measures. Most notably, the video memory is reduced from 12GB to 6GB and the shader units have been slightly scaled back from 3072 to 2816.

Barring a few exceptions, the majority of Titan X models utilize a reference design which results in reduced overclocking headroom and higher temperatures. In contrast to this, custom cooled GTX 980Ti SKUs feature very impressive factory overclocks and enable users to access a higher power limit percentage when tackling manual core and memory boosts. As a result, it’s not uncommon for 980Ti GPUs to outperform the Titan X in certain scenarios despite costing £300-400 less. This means it is the perfect choice for the higher end demographic and also provides an improved price to performance ratio.

I don't know how many of you reading these lines had the chance to play the original UFO Enemy Unknown turn-based squad strategy game by MicroProse back in 1994 and its sequel X-COM Terror From The Deep in 1995 (again by MicroProse) but these are still two of my all-time classic games to ever hit the PC (right next to Wing Commander). Reeven Okeanos CPU Cooler Review

It has been quite a while since we’ve reviewed a product from Reeven so we were quite excited when they told us they would be sending over their flagship Okeanos (RC-1402) CPU cooler. This cooler features a pretty large dual tower design, two cooling fan, six hefty copper heatpipes, and a pretty sleek look. Reeven tells us that this cooler was designed with gamers and overclockers in mind so it should be able to handle some pretty hefty thermal loads as well. Let’s see if Reeven brings the entire package with the Okeanos.
