43-Inch Sharp Smart Roku TV (LC-43LB371C)

We have a lot of screens in our lives. We have the smallest one on our wrists with smartwatches, bigger ones in our hands with smartphones, and even bigger ones with tablets, laptops and desktop computers. But the biggest screen in most of our lives is probably the television in the living room.

There has to be a way to make this display a little bit smarter and more integrated. And that's how we arrive at the Sharp Roku TV, shown here in its 43-inch variant. It's exactly what you think it is and that's not such a bad thing.

Building your first Custom Designed Watercooled PC

STOP! If you have never built a PC before, this video is not a step by step guide for newbies. It doesn’t explain how to insert a processor, or what you do with a power supply. It won’t tell you how to tweak your bios and overclock. If you are reading this page it is expected that you already have a fair few hours of system building under your belt. This article today is meant as useful advice for an experienced system builder who wants to move from the mainstream world of AIO liquid coolers / air coolers into the world of custom watercooling.

Case Mod Friday: Toxic Chrome

Welcome to another Case Mod Friday showcase! This week we have ciobanulx's “Toxic Chrome” build. Here is what he had to say about it, "I will be modding and building a custom water cooled system in the Corsair 250D! As the name suggests there will be chrome. The case will be painted a combination of chrome and blue, chrome for the outside panels and blue for the case frame. I will also be painting other components such as the radiators chrome too. I'm not exactly sure yet how I'm going to get the chrome paint done and if I will be able to do it myself with spray paint as that would be the only option if I was to paint it myself.

Chess, guns, and chainswords collide in Warhammer 40,000: Regicide

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide combines characters and gameplay elements from the bleak, bloody Warhammer universe with the rules of a decidedly more strait-laced game: chess. We spent some quality time with this game to see how much fun can be had in Hammerfall Publishing's mash-up.

DIY cassette cases for Nintendo Game Boy

Part of why I enjoying collecting video games are the cases. When people look at me like I’m crazy for buying physical copies, I usually base my defense on the experience of opening a new game, but there’s much more to it. My friends and I used to hit the video rental store every Friday, and despite the old adage we had no other way of choosing a game other than what we saw on the cover. I’m sure this contributed to my infatuation with cover art, but I’ve talked to enthusiasts of other media, particularly music, and they share a similar love for album covers. When the games are on the shelf and all-- er, most-- the spines are uniform, it’s a great feeling.

Being in IT in general sometimes gives us a bad rap of being lazy, out of shape, and not the healthiest of other professions. Why? According to reports, sitting for long periods of time at a desk can lead to heart disease, over productive pancreas, colon cancer, muscle degeneration, back problems such as disk damage and inflexible spine, poor circulation and even blood clots. If you sit at a desk more than seven hours a day, you are 61 percent of greater risk of dying than those that only sit an hour a day. Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 Z170 Motherboard Review

There are many reasons why you should never hit jaywalkers. Firstly, depending on how hard you hit them, you might damage your car bad enough that it would be structural. But regardless of how hard you hit them, the moment you claim insurance, it will go on your car's accident history, which brings us to the second reason: It will reduce your vehicle's resale value. Thirdly, since you are hitting another uninsured entity, you will have to pay the deductible even though it is their fault, which will run you at least a few hundred dollars. Lastly, while your car is in the repair shop, you might be stuck with some cheap rental car you may not enjoy. On a side note, you might injure someone. Oh, did I just mess up my priorities? Oops. On a serious note, the main point of why you should not hit jaywalkers, regardless of who is at fault, is because you may inflict serious bodily harm to another human being, and life is infinitely more valuable than any material or monetary loss. Unfortunately, if we focus on the wrong priorities, then we will come up with all the wrong reasons. When Intel launched their desktop Skylake processors last month, it became clear to us the enthusiast grade Core i7-6700K was a marginal improvement over last year's Core i7-4790K. If we look at performance alone, then one could argue this is a pointless upgrade. However, once we move onto the platform end of things, then you will soon realize it is not just about the CPU, but also everything else around it. With twenty PCI Express 3.0 lanes from the Z170 chipset, not only do we now have full bandwidth for two M.2 SSDs like the Kingston HyperX Predator, but also SATA Express storage and USB-C with USB 3.1 support. RAM also got a generational increment to DDR4. To see what Intel's latest platform brings to the table, we took in Gigabyte's GA-Z170X-UD5 mainstream performance board to find out.

Huawei P8 lite Review: Unlocked And Affordable

Today, we have the opportunity to take a closer look at one of Huawei’s unlocked US smartphones, the P8 lite. This smartphone was built with a focus on design, ease of use, and value for the money. Because the phone is unlocked, you’re free to take it to any GSM service provider and switch carriers when you choose.

Without a subsidy from a wireless carrier, unlocked phones are often very expensive, especially for the high-end flagship models. The P8 lite, however, aims to strike a balance between price and function...

Inateck FE2005 Review – 2.5-inch USB 3.0 External Drive Enclosure

Back in December 2014, we had a look at Inateck’s FE2006 USB 3.0 drive enclosure and later tested the FD1006C SUB 3.0 enclosure. We found that each performed very well and priced very inexpensively for those looking to pop a 2.5″ drive in and get some speedy external storage. Today we’re looking at the FE2005 model which is very similar to the FE2006 with a few small differences that we’ll get into more detail about later. Like the other drives mentioned, it leverages the relatively new USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) which really allows the interface to reach its full potential. As such, this is nicely suited for SSD drives rather than hard drives which would not be able to generate enough performance to saturate the interface and thus be a bottleneck in performance.

MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2G Review

As expected many of our readers are gamers and professionals who are always looking for new graphics cards to equip their systems with. Obviously not everyone's willing to spend a large sum of cash for a graphics card but luckily nowadays people don't really have to since there are numerous budget-friendly models available in the market by both NVIDIA and AMD that do surprisingly well in games and professional applications alike. Our main focus recently has been on NVIDIA cards since that's what most of you have requested but since we want to be objective and also since AMD has launched quite a few models inside 2015 and we need to have both companies in our charts we decided to take a look at one. So today with us we have one of the latest AMD models launched by MSI and more specifically the Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2G.

As a technology pioneer, MSI takes customer satisfaction as the momentum and the pioneering R&D staff as the root to market its global presence over 120 countries. A complete line-up of notebook PCs, All-in-One PCs, motherboards, graphics cards, desktops, servers, IPCs, robotic appliances and vehicle electronics demonstrate MSI's strengths and endeavors in consumer and commercial markets. With the brand slogan of "Innovation with Style," MSI spares no effort in the pursuit of excellent quality, user-friendly design and exquisite fashion products. MSI's core values "Innovation" and "Style" have made it the leading brand beyond customer expectations. As a world leading gaming brand, MSI's aim is to become the most trusted name in gaming and eSports. We stand by our principles of breakthroughs in design, the pursuit of excellence, and technological innovation as we have continued to raise the bar for ourselves and have accomplished a great deal of pioneering work in the industry.

For the new R9 380 series of cards AMD used their latest Antigua core which is basically a slightly improved/revamped and overclocked version of the Tonga Pro core used in the older R9 285 series. So that means that the specifications of the new R9 380 cards are pretty much identical with those of the R9 285 ones since both series feature 256 Bit memory bus, GDDR5 VRAM modules, 1792 SPUs (Shader Processing Units), 32 ROPS (Render Output Units) and 112 TMUs (Texture Mapping Units). The main difference is the lower electrical requirements (always according to AMD) and the slight overclock on the core (970MHz/918MHz). The Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2G by MSI which we will be testing today features a custom PCB complete with military grade quality components, a silent dual-fan cooler they call the TWIN FROZR V and a slight factory overclock of 1000MHz (OC mode) on the core clock and 1400MHz (5600MHz effective) on its 2GB GDDR5 memory. Other features include support for DirectX 12, Vulcan, Mantle, TrueAudio, Virtual Super Resolution, Eyefinity and ZeroCore (the last two are new additions not found in the R9 285 series).
