To a point, this is still true—but there’s a disturbing trend in 3D accelerators that I want to address. Specifically, both NVIDIA and ATI seem to have fallen into a pattern of including a large variety of interesting and exciting features in their video cards—but by the time products appear on the market that take advantage of these features, the cards that spawned the excitement (and that cost $500 at the time) are to old and slow to run the very games they were touted as being ‘necessary’ for.Read more
