One of the most underappreciated parts of today’s leading computers is the power supply. Sure when you’re out shopping for a case, you see a great deal. $40 for a case AND 350 watt power supply! You think, I should jump on that right away! WRONG. Buying a budget power supply can have seriously adverse effects on your computer. If it dies, it may take some components with it. I had a situation where a Codegen PSU went bad on me, fried my ATX connector and melted just about everything in the case in some way or another. You could tell, there were small fried components all over the place. If it’s under or over powered on the separate rails, it can give performance and stability problems and also do damage. Also to make things worse, if your case has a window or needs good ventilation, your power supply can make a major impact on the look, feel, and temperature of your computer.Read more
