BenQ SW271 27-Inch Monitor Review

We’ve reviewed many professional monitors over the past few years, and though the category is advancing slowly, we have indeed seen an evolution. It was once enough to call any display with a wide gamut “professional” and leave it at that. The accuracy was usually better than gaming and general use monitors, but it was rarely guaranteed. Today, a factory calibration report is an absolute must for pro monitors. However, those are becoming more common; even gaming monitors can include a data sheet. So how do we refine this crowded genre?

VERDICT
As a color reference tool, the BenQ SW271 is unmatched. If you seek a display that represents the pinnacle of accuracy and flexibility, your search is over.

Blue Yeti Nano USB Microphone Review

Blue Microphones don’t make microwaves, they don’t make TVs and they certainly don’t make toasters… funnily enough, they make audio focused products and they’re very good at it! Blue Microphones develop and manufacturer some of the most popular consumer-based mics on the market such as the famed Blue Snowball, the Blue Raspberry and in a complete twist to their conventional microphone line-up, the new Blue Yeti Nano which is a smaller version of their Yeti. Does bigger actually mean better or do all good things come in small packages? The Blue Yeti Nano is the latest USB based condenser microphone to come from Blue Microphones and we give our verdict on what should be a popular purchase for streamers, podcasters and content creators.

CalDigit T4 RAID Thunderbolt 3 Review

Going into mid-2018, CalDigit is looking to continue pushing its storage solutions to the next level. With much of their lineup now moved over to Thunderbolt 3, it was only fitting that their flagship four-bay RAID enclosure T4 made the move over as well.

Nearly four years ago, we had the T4 Thunderbolt 2 in the lab for testing. That unit produced 730 MB/s read and write via RAID 0 and 539 MB/s read 502 MB/s write via RAID 5 using Black Magic Disk Test and Thunderbolt 2. The new T4 RAID shares much of that design including the chassis, drive tray arrangement and cooling. What has changed is the interface, going from Thunderbolt 2 at 20Gbps to Thunderbolt 3 at 40GBps. CalDigit has also added the ability for the T4 RAID to charge your MacBook with 85 watts of power and it can also shoot pixels to a secondary display at 4K60 via the DP connection.

Cooler Master MasterCase H500 Computer Case Review

The Cooler Master MasterCase H500 has some excellent features -- namely cooling -- but is it worth the frustration?

Years and years ago, I was watching a movie with a couple of friends and my brothers. Most of us have seen the movie before, but we decided to watch it again because none of us had seen it recently. At one point in the movie, one of my friends made a bet with my brother about what was going to happen next. We were not really sure, since we have not seen it in a while. The bet was stupid and basically I just remember my friend said he would eat his words. None of us thought anything would really happen except for one of them saying, "I told you so." When my brother ended up being right, they actually decided to make it a serious thing and figure out how someone would eat their words. They decided it would be best if the friend would write something on a muffin, or at least attempt to, and then eat it. I mean, I do not think he lost the bet, since he got a muffin out of it. It just ended up being a case of taking something figurative way too literally. I might have to eat my words as well today. About a year ago, I wrote a review on the Noctua NF-A Series, which included two 200 mm fans. I claimed in the review that it would be rare to have a case which requires 200 mm fans, and it is still rare. Today, however, we have the Cooler Master MasterCase H500, which features two 200 mm RGB fans. Read on to see if they, and the rest of the case, are worth it!

HP EliteDisplay S14 Review

When HP first sent me the EliteDisplay S14, I really wasn't sure how I was going to be able to write a review. I mean, it's a 14-inch portable screen; how much could I write? But then I fell in love with it, and I realized that I have to write about my experiences with it.

HP's EliteDisplay S14 is a 14-inch, 1080p, 16:9 display, and it's powered by USB Type-C. If your PC has a USB Type-C port with display out (most of them), you're good to go.

ID-Cooling ZoomFlow 240 AIO Liquid Cooler Review

We here at eTeknix really like ID-Cooling products. They are, however, a brand that some perceive a little unfairly. To many, they come across as a ‘cheap brand’ and as such, by proxy, their products can’t be very good. In fairness, for many things (PC and otherwise) that can often be true. In our opinion though, this brand deserves better consideration.

Yes, they do tend to market their products towards the lower end of budgets, but having reviewed many of them over the years, we have rarely not been mightily impressed by their performance. Despite that though, it has been a little while since we checked out any of their coolers.

As such, we are delighted to have a brand new ZoomFlow 240 cooler. This cooler is a 240mm AIO liquid system which incorporates, at least on the box, some very impressive RGB lighting effects.

Noctua Fans Super Test

Noctua is one of the best-known names in terms of cooling solutions and system fans. They arguably have one of the best reputations in the industry for providing an excellent product that never fails to impress. Whenever we have reviewed one of their coolers, we have always been amazed at the quality and design. Particularly in their CPU coolers which despite being air, easily manage to compete (and beat) many high-level AIO liquid systems.

With this in mind, most people know who Noctua are. What you might not know, however, is that Noctua recently released a brand new line of system fans. These models included an update to the fan design which reportedly allows for much better airflow and a quieter operating noise.

Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB 750w Power Supply Review

Having a good power supply is perhaps the most important single component your system can have. It’s a sad fact, but when many people look towards system builds they can often overlook the significance a good PSU can have. Firstly, clearly, one that is well made will work well and generally be much more durable in the long term. Secondly, going for better efficiency ratings means that it’ll run better and might even save you some cash on the electric bill. It’s not much, but every little helps!

With this in mind, we take a look at the Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB. This power supply is rated to 750w and comes with bronze efficiency certification. So far, all the things you’d want to hear from a power supply that suits a reasonable budget but still has plenty of performance to offer.

As this is a Thermaltake product, this power supply includes some impressive RGB lighting effects. This is particularly special as they are one of the few brands (at least that we are aware of) that incorporate RGB technology in their PSU designs.
