Asus Maximus Extreme Review
Bjorn3D posted a review on the Asus Maximus Extreme.

Ferrari automobiles, Rolex watches and Brioni suits. Each of these items commands respect in their individual fields. Standing as the pinnacle of engineering, each of these products fetch a high premium but with that premium comes the satisfaction of knowing you are getting the very best. While they may not be the most practical choices for one reason or another, they deliver on their promise of quality. Which brings me to the Maximus Extreme, a motherboard that offers the very latest in features and options. Keeping the enthusiast in mind, this motherboard was not designed for a casual gamer or even a hard-core gamer who only loves to play. No. This board was designed for those of us who must tweak and fiddle endlessly, eek out every last MHz of performance. Is it practical? Much like a Ferrari, there are cheaper ways to get to the store but this is the one we all dream about. So come with me as I dive deep into the inner workings of the Maximus Extreme and try to uncover the true potential of this board. And if nothing else, you get to use the line 'I have a Maximus, what do you have?

XFX GeForce 8800 GT 256MB Graphics Card Review
PC Perspective posted a review on the XFX 8800 GT 256MB Alpha Dog Edition

The NVIDIA 8800 GT 256MB is overpriced for the performance it provides and this card should really be priced at the level of the 8600 GTS 256MB. Both AMD's Radeon HD 3850 (for those looking to save money) and the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (for those okay with spending a little bit more) are much better options for PC gamers.

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin iPod Dock Review
I4U NEWS reviews the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin iPod Dock.

Sound is the real appeal of the B&W Zeppelin, and it has sound in droves. I like bass to my music , but not to the point of overpowering the mids and high sounds. The B&W Zeppelin has fantastic bass along with crisp and sharp highs and mid range sounds. Sound output is rich and to achieve this the B&W Zeppelin uses three amplifiers, one for the mid, one for left, one for right and one for bass.

XFX 8800GTS 512 MB Alpha Dog Review
Gamepyre posted a review on the XFX 8800GTS 512 MB Alpha Dog video card

It seems that NVIDIA is bent on just taking over the entire VGA arena in both the high and low end market at the same time. This can be clearly seen with their recent release strategy, and ATI is an unloaded gun when it comes to sheer product awareness across the spectrum. XFX will most likely have a few different variations of this card available from standard clocked models and a few overclocked types as well. This card beats almost the rest of the NVIDIA lineup other than the Ultra and is a very solid gaming solution. Pricing however is much higher than the 256MB GT, which is around the $200.00 mark as this card sells for about $350.00 give or take a few bucks in either direction.

Where Hitman was all about stealth and disguise, rewarding missions that were carried out unseen and unheard, in Kane & Lynch you make a lot of noise and spill a lot of blood.

Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound Review
DragonSteelMods.com posted a review on the Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound

There are so many companies out there now making their own thermal compounds now, most every company that makes a CPU cooler now has their very own thermal compound to go with it. Is that a bad thing? Not really, but how does a person know which one is really the best choice where the choices are so many? Well that's why there are sites like this one to help people make informed decisions by throughly testing these products and comparing them to the other leading brands out there.

I just reviewed the Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler and with it came a small sample of their new NT-H1 thermal compound, they also sent me a full tube as well to test for review purposes. It just so happened I was also in process of doing a thermal paste round-up comparison when this arrived for review so the timing was great to get a good comparison of the NT-H1 against the four others I'd already tested so far. So continue on to learn more about the new Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound and see how it compares to the leading brands out there today...

OCZ ReaperX HPC DDR3 10666 2 x 1 GB Review
OCC has published a new review of the OCZ ReaperX HPC DDR3 10666 2 x 1 GB

Overclocking the Reaper X was not as challenging as I had been expecting. With all of the sets in this review, I would run into hard walls that no amount of tinkering with voltages or sub-timings would let me past. The same was true here with the Reaper X HPC DDR3 1333. But the speed and latency that it happened at was much higher than I had experienced with the other test modules. Ultimately, I was able to get into Windows at 8-7-6-20 at 950MHz or DDR 1900. Not too shabby for a set of 1333MHz (667MHz) system memory. Unfortunately, that speed was unstable with the voltage used in this review and resulted in BSODs. Loosening the timings to 8-7-7-20 results in a successful boot into Windows at 470 x 7 with the memory at 940MHz. This represents an increase from the stock speeds of 274MHz. That's huge when it comes to overclocking potential.

AMD's Phenom 9900 / 9600 Black Edition: Beyond Erratum 298
Lost Circuits posted an article on AMD's Phenom 9900 / 9600 Black Edition

AMD's release of the Phenom processor along with the Spider platform was not exactly a head turner. Well, maybe the other way. There has been a lot of confusion, benchmarks chasing each other, whether they were relevant or not and by the end of the day, the entire platform is still a mystery. We took the current flagship edition, that is, the Phenom 9900 and pitted it against the Phenom 9600 Black Edition with the lower speed NorthBridge. We ran AOD and different memory frequencies and then compared the results with whatever competition is out there. We also did some more research into Erratum 298 and the bug it describes along with possible scenarios where it can occur and the workaround solution a.k.a. patch that could be worse than the bug itself. And that is not just in terms of performance.

Asus' Eee PC 4G sub-notebook
The Tech Report posted a review on the Asus Eee PC 4G sub-notebook

We spend a lot of our time here at TR evaluating cutting-edge hardware, but not because we're particularly drawn to extremely expensive components. Rather, it's the fact that new technologies tend to debut at the high end before trickling downstream to more affordable mid-range parts. We also spend a great deal of time playing with those mid-range products, combing through their ranks in search for that perfect intersection of price and performance—the glorious sweet spot.

It's a little odd, then, to be sitting in front of Asus' Eee PC sub-notebook. With a Celeron ULV processor chugging along at 630MHz, GMA 900 integrated graphics powering a 800x480 display, 512MB of RAM, and just 4GB of internal storage capacity, the Eee PC's specs are hardly awe-inspiring. In fact, this may be the first system we've ever reviewed that's slower than Jessica Simpson.

And unlike Jessica, the Eee PC isn't a knockout, either. So at first blush, it's a little hard to see what all the fuss is about. Sure, the system may be a fine option for developing nations and Ugandan schools, but its appeal for enthusiasts isn't as obvious.

I assure you, however, that it's there. After a few weeks of quality time with the Eee PC, I'm absolutely sold on the concept and pretty enamored with Asus' implementation. Keep reading to see why.

Sapphire Atomic HD 3870 Review

The Rhodium looks stunning, the blue led in the front illuminating the entire door looks really cool. The paint finish is tough enough to withstand some heavy using and although it doesn't stand out in size, it's still a large enough case to fill it with lots of hardware. Hellgate: London was released in Australia on the 31st of October, 2007. I was interested in this game as I had read that the developers had previously worked on titles such as Diablo 2. Expecting something similar to Diablo, I was a little surprised to find that the game was more of a dungeon hack & slash with only a small amount of outdoor areas. It is still however more of a RPG than an action game.

Intel X48 chipset preview - ASUS P5E3 Premium motherboard
Elite Bastards posted a preview on the Intel X48 chipset

So, what do we have by way of improvements in X48 over its forebear? The simple answer is - Nothing major. Most of the under the hood changes to the X48 chipset concern tweaking the design and components with a mind to adding official support for Intel's latest, 1600MHz FSB CPUs. While X38-based motherboards will often be able to do this unofficially, X48 should make for better stability at these higher FSB and memory speeds, as well as allowing for better overclocking of such parts.

In short then, official 1600MHz FSB support and a better optimised memory controller (again with 1600MHz support in mind) to go with it is the order of the day here.

bit-tech published a review of Shuttle's SN68PTG5 XPC

It absolutely does not matter about the system's shortcomings because it does what it's designed to do, excellently, on the condition that you use the right hardware inside. Plan it out like I did above and you can get yourself a very inexpensive, yet very capable media centre that sits in a tiny footprint. Even if you don't want an HTPC, it can be used as a general productivity box for the family—video, audio, web, documents etc and you'd be hard pressed finding something so inexpensive but upgradable.

The Shuttle SN68PTG5 sits at an almost perfect price to feature ratio and as a result, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to build a Home Theatre PC.

ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard Review
TechSpot posted a review on the ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe motherboard

After a longer than anticipated delay the new Phenom processors saw the public light last November, but unfortunately for AMD not even then things got back to plan. Put in simple terms, instead of getting a full pack of competitive products, we only got two moderately clocked Phenom processors (9500 and 9600) that are characterized for offering quad-core processing on a budget rather than outpacing competing Intel Core 2s.

As part of the Phenom launch, AMD also unveiled a new platform (used by the ASUS M3A32-MVP we are testing today) built around the AMD 790FX chipset and the semi-new socket AM2+. This new platform still uses DDR2 memory but adds HyperTransport 3.0 support and split power lanes (which benefits power savings). The socket AM2+ is backwards compatible with Athlon X2s and Semprons, so it can serve as a middle platform if you can't upgrade CPU and motherboard all at once.
