Madshrimps posted a review on the OCZ Vertex Drives

We all know that two is better than one, we have dual core CPUs, dual GPU video cards, and if you really want to get the most out of your storage, a set of SSDs in RAID will boost your performance noticeably. We tested 6 different RAID stripe sizes and 3 different RAID configs in 4 different storage benchmarks, some synthetic, others real world operations. More than 1200 benchmarks results summed up in a few charts.

Intel Turbo Boost Technology - Trapping The Unwary
TechARP takes a look at the Intel Turbo Boost Technology

Many reviewers and hardware enthusiasts have either migrated to the Intel Core i7 and Core i5 platforms, or are in the process of doing so. Unfortunately, this upgrade is not without its pitfalls for the unwary. When it comes to the Intel Core i7 and Core i5 processors, the biggest pitfall you have to watch out for is the Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Most of us would have heard of this innocuous-sounding feature. Unfortunately, it is this passing familiarity that causes most of us to virtually forget all about it. Even as seasoned reviewers and hardware enthusiasts, we were once caught with our pants down and we have no doubt that many other reviewers and hardware enthusiasts too would have made similar mistakes. It is even possible that many are still unaware of the problems that Intel Turbo Mode can cause.

Moneual Labs MonCaso Y601W Review
OCIA.net has posted their review of the Moneual Labs MonCaso Y601W

We've reviewed two Moneual HTPC cases previously here at OCIA.net, the MonCaso 972 and 932, and found them to be very stylish and extremely rich on features. With touch screen LCD, front panel knobs and remote control, these enclosures look more like traditional home theater components rather than cases for computer parts. But with all that gadgetry comes a price, to the tune of around $500 or so, which may be out of range for many potential HTPC builders. To that end Moneual introduces a new line of micro-ATX HTPC cases, the MonCaso 600 series.

We've all heard about Ferrari, the very powerful and equally expensive racing car manufacturer off in Italy. Well, strangely enough, Ferrari has joined teams with Thrustmaster, a manufacturer of PC and console accessories to bring us their new Ferrari Motors Gamepad F430 Challenge Limited Edition. So, how does this gamepad differ from a regular PS3 controller? Other than a sleek new look, a couple more buttons, and the Ferrari brand name, there isn't much difference. However, with a price point $10 below that of a Dualshock 3 controller and support for both the PC and PS3 - the Ferrari Motors Gamepad becomes a direct contender in the gamepad market.

Asus UL30A Laptop Review
InsideHW.com has reviewed Asus UL30A laptop

Quick view of the specifications suggest that the Asus UL30A is another accessible model in a series of small notebooks based on Intel CULV processors. A little closer study reveals that the list of components is not all that common, but after a few seconds of work it is obvious that UL30A differs from the competition for several very important parameters. However, the UL label itself, which comes from the word "Unlimited", sounds promising…

After months-long DirectX 11 extravaganza by AMD, it seems to be time when NVIDIA declares itself to have a competing GPU, based on its spanking-new Fermi GPU architecture. The GeForce Fermi 100 (GF100) is promising to take over the legacy built by its ancestors, the G80 and GT200, to become yet another monster high-performance silicon which will reignite competition in the upper-quadrant of the market. We look at what NVIDIA is putting on offer, before we get to test NVIDIA's assertions.

NVIDIA GF100 GPU Fermi Graphics Architecture
Benchmark Reviews posted an article on the NVIDIA GF100 GPU Fermi Graphics Architecture

NVIDIA's latest GPU is codenamed GF100, and is the first graphics processor based on the Fermi architecture. In this article, Benchmark Reviews explains the technical architecture behind NVIDIA's GF100 graphics processor and offers an insight into upcoming Fermi-based GeForce video cards. For those who are not familiar, NVIDIA's GF100 GPU is their first graphics processor to support DirectX-11 hardware features such as tessellation and DirectCompute, while also adding heavy particle and turbulence effects. The GF100 GPU is also the successor to the GT200 graphics processor, which launched in the GeForce GTX 280 video card. NVIDIA has since redefined their focus, and GF100 proves a dedication towards next generation gaming effects such as raytracing, order-independent transparency, and fluid simulations. Rest assured, the new GF100 GPU is more powerful than the GT200 could ever be, and early results indicate a Fermi-based video card delivers far more than twice the gaming performance over a GeForce GTX-280.

LSI MegaRAID 9280-8E SAS 6G PCIe 2.0 RAID Controller Review
TweakTown posted a review on the LSI MegaRAID 9280-8E SAS 6G PCIe 2.0 RAID Controller

Seagate and LSI Logic teamed up to bring SAS 2.0, 6Gb/s technology to enterprise and prosumer users in late 2009. The Seagate 15K.7 3.5 inch form factor and 15K.2 2.5” drives both showed performance improvements with the new 6G interface. We have already tested both drives on the internal version of the card we are reviewing today, the LSI 9260-8i, and saw large single drive performance increases just by moving to SAS 2.0.

External SAS enclosures are categorized as Direct Access Storage (DAS) and the technology has now trickled down from enterprise and is a popular way of adding very large disk arrays to professional Audio / Video users. Small companies with a small number of users have found that DAS offers the same disk redundancy features of NAS servers, but offers higher data transfer speeds and in many cases lower costs.
