Plextor PX-PH160US Review
Bjorn3D look at the Plextor PX-PH160US.

While USB-flash drives have both dropped in price and increased in size they still are far too small if you need to carry around anything larger than some images or documents. The regular external hard drives of course are an alternative but while they do have the storage space they also are big, heavy and need extra power thus making them less useful for the mobile computer user.

A better alternative is the new external hard drives that are based on the smaller 2.5” notebook drives. These drives not only are small but they also can be powered over the USB-port (albeit by using two USB-ports). As you finally can get hold of 320 GB 2.5” drives it means that the smaller drives now have become cheaper and thus perfect for the new wave of external hard drives.

Today I am reviewing one of these new 2.5” external hard drives from a company mainly known for their CD and DVD-burners: Plextor. The Plextor PX-PH160US comes with 160 GB of storage and in addition to the expected USB 2.0 connection it also has a eSATA connection for even better performance.

Mapower MAP-OT21 2.5 Inch eSATA / USB Enclosure Review
Bigbruin.com has posted a review on the Mapower MAP-OT21 2.5 Inch eSATA / USB Enclosure

The Mapower MAP-OT21 2.5 Inch eSATA / USB Enclosure features a one touch backup button that works through software found on the included CD. The "PCClone EX Lite" software doesn't do anything fancy like some other backup software I have used, but the simplicity is a strong point. The whole thing occupies less than 11MB on disk, and it allows you to easily setup your profile of what you would like backed up.

Corsair TX650W PSU Review
DriverHeaven posted a review on the Corsair TX650W PSU

Attempts to diversify are common among PC component manufacturers, but these are not always marked by success. One of the most successful diversification attempts was made by Corsair nearly a year ago. Corsair, being a highly reputable RAM manufacturer at the time, released a small range of high class PSUs aimed towards enthusiasts, with the "HX series" moniker. We reviewed the HX620W unit back then which we found an excellent choice for enthusiasts and a year later the HX620W is still one of the best choices for performance systems. Because of the great success of the HX series, Corsair launched the VX series back in August and the TX series shortly after that. The VX series units are aimed towards the value-conscious PC users, however our review of one of the first VX450W units was a surprise because of its remarkable performance.

The TX series consists of high output units but without unnecessary features or aesthetic add-ons, aimed towards enthusiasts who are seeking to get the best value out of their purchase.

Asus EN8800GT (NVIDIA GeFoce 8800GT) TOP 512MB Review
APH Networks has published a new review on the Asus EN8800GT (NVIDIA GeFoce 8800GT) TOP 512MB

NVIDIA's release of their G92 based graphics card has so far been nothing but a total success amongst enthusiasts. The die shrink not only permitted cards to run cooler and thus use less electricity, but also improvements have been made for higher efficiency reflected by its incredible performance. The first card rolled out is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT -- the card that outperformed the previous generation G80 based 8800GTS. Next came the G92 based 8800GTS that outperformed once a flagship graphics card from the company. A lot of times, I find myself looking for an excellent cooler in the market before digging for a video card; not for overclocking but for the silence. When I heard that Arctic Cooling's Accelero S1 that I have sitting on my Radeon X1950 Pro is actually compatible with the 8800GT, it did not take me long enough to realize that I had a truly winning combination for performance enthusiasts and quiet PC enthusiasts alike. Today, we'll take a look at the Asus version of the 8800GT -- the Asus EN8800GT TOP 512MB -- which is not just any 8800GT as it's pre-overclocked, under warranty, straight from the factory. Although factory overclocked cards aren't uncommon nowadays, this one is one of the fastest and most readily available 8800GT on the market today, comes with Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts game, a plethora of cables, and a really, really big retail box. Let's see how the Asus EN8800GT TOP 512MB (Or what we will refer to as the Asus 8800GT TOP) runs through our tests today.

SteelSeries SP Pro Gaming Mousepad Review
OCModShop posted SteelSeries SP Pro Gaming Mousepad Review

If someone were to ask you "Who's your favorite mousepad manufacturer?", what would you say? This list is rather short, and not many companies are known for their pads alone. SteelSeries is one of those companies that many PC enthusiasts will mention, because they keep delivering innovative products to a category that many think of as mundane: mousepads.

Many polycarbonite or plastic mousepads are slick, and are dubbed "performance" pads because the mouse can slide all the way to Alberquerque with a single flick. Other pads offer "control", which usually means more friction between the pad and the mouse. A good cloth mousepad, such as the SteelSeries QcK Heavy is a great example of a mat offering a high degree of control. What about the user who wants a good degree of control AND high performance at the same time?

Thermaltake Max 4 Active Cooling eSATA and USB 3.5" SATA HDD Enclosure Review
DragonSteelMods.com posted a review on the Thermaltake Max 4 Active Cooling eSATA and USB 3.5" SATA HDD Enclosure

Thermaltake has sent me their Max 4 hard drive enclosure that features active cooling in the form of a silent 80mm fan that is only 15mm thick, so it really only adds about 15mm to the overall thickness of the enclosure and keeps your hard drive cool. The Max 4 also features dual interfaces in the form of USB and eSATA allowing you to utilize the higher transfer rates of an eSATA connection if there's one available. So continue on to check out this enclosure...
