Ten percent of all 3.5in hard drives sold today are in capacities of 1TB or greater, claims Mark Geenen, President of Trend Focus. For enthusiasts, that number would grow exponentially and with their low cost, rightly so. A few months ago Seagate launched their 1.5TB drive, but it has been plagued with firmware issues that are only now getting resolved. Just as with the graphics card world, hard drive manufacturers play the performance and capacity leapfrog game.

In this round Western Digital was first to reach the finish line and the race was to 2 terabytes of storage capacity. This is achieved through their new platter technology that allows for 500 GB of data to be stored on a single platter. Western Digital also filled the drive with their best IP like IntelliSeek and IntelliPower technology that allows the new 2TB Caviar to fall under the Green product line. With the introduction of the Spedo Advanced chassis by Thermaltake a few months ago, some of us were were wondering if Thermaltake would put together a cheaper variant of that chassis. Now don't get me wrong the original Spedo chassis is a great chassis but for some of us users we just want the most simple chassis we can find.

Well Thermaltake came up with an answer. The Spedo. Nothing else added to the name. This chassis still retains quite a bit from the advanced Spedo, like the movable HDD bays, the simple tool less 5.25 drive bays and the tool less PCI expansion locks. In my book the simpler the manufacturer keep it the better it performs. Somethings are meant to be kept simple.

As hard drive capacities increase, the power required to run those drives increases as well. WD's WD20EADS makes it possible for energy-conscious users to build a system with massive storage capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation. The drive is also environmentally friendly due to relatively lower power consumption, and it runs cool and quiet operation. What more can you ask for? Well, speed is a tad disappointing - the WD20EADS lags behind smaller-capacity drives such as WD's RE3 Enterprise 500GB and VelociRaptor. This is due largely to the fact that the drive's rotaional speed is 5400rpm, which results in a latency of 5.5ms rather than the 4.2ms you typically get on a 7200rpm drive. Unless you're a speed junkie, you should be more that satisfied with its 11p per gigabyte up-front cost and green credentials. Before you take the plunge however, it's worth noting that Seagate is hot on WD's heels. The company's 7200.12 (2TB) drive should be out soon, so then it will be a battle between who has better transfer speeds (and a better firmware, apparently). Since the 7200.12 is supposed to be much faster than the company's 7200.11, Seagate will probably take the speed crown.

The AudioFX2 represents incredible value, that's for sure. Audio quality isn't up there with dedicated headsets, primarily to a lack of a detailed, neutral sound, but is definitely an energetic sounding headphone and good enough to satisfy hard core gamers and casual music playback. The AudioFX2 gives good depth to bass notes, without being overpowering, and is particularly detailed in the upper midrange. Furthermore, it offers extensive versatility to support a wide variety of audio and gaming devices in a single package. It has also been a long time since I have used a more comfortable gaming headset. Hard to beat for the price.

The TR3X6G1600C8D kit from Corsair is a 2x3GB kit of PC3-12800 CL8 memory clad in the uber sleek black Dual-path Heat eXchange (DHX) Dominator heat sinks. The memory specifications are well above the JEDEC standard for DDR3 memory offering high frequencies at good timings, but these are also not their top of the line offering. This combination of frequency and timings with a relatively low sticker price makes this Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D an attractive kit.

Today we have the Thermaltake SpinQ CPU cooler, a unique take on cooler designs of the past. The SpinQ is cooled with an 80mm "squirrel cage" type of fan and this fan not only cools the fins of the cooler but air is drawn in both ends and blown out in all directions across the body of the SpinQ. Obviously this cooler is named SpinQ for a reason. While I’m not too sure on the "Q" part, the "Spin" comes from the 30° twist of each fin, creating an overall spiraled design. This gives the SpinQ a previously unseen design of the body. Very flashy, I must say!

We at TweakTown have reviewed a few of the Orbs and the "V" series coolers which all did pretty well overall. So now I am left with the task of finding out whether this cooler is about flash or function, or perhaps even a good mix of both. It is time to get some images happening and strap the Thermaltake SpinQ to our test rig to see what the verdict is.

The CAND3001T0 is an easy way to add shared storage to your network, as it comes with hard drives installed and preconfigured for use. For users wanting basic storage functionality with a minimum of fuss, the CAND3001T0 offers and additional 500GB of storage out of the box due to its RAID-1 factory configuration. I found the Web UI to be very basic and its use of fractured English to be mildly annoying at times and downright confusing at others. The interface seems more like a first attempt rather than a polished, completed product. The added features are where I had the most issues, from e-mail alerts that were too basic to be of any use, to the backup capability that left me wondering if maybe it should have been left out until an integrated working restore functionality could be included.

Given the size of this chassis, it's no surprise to find that the ATCS 840 features some spacious internals to play with. What's more, this case even features a pull-out motherboard tray, which seems to be quite a rarity these days, potentially making upgrades, motherboard swap-outs and the like far easier.

Continuing down the "ease of use" path, it's also worth noting the space behind where you'd typically find the CPU seated on your motherboard - With the far side panel removed, this allows you to access the rear side of motherboard, allowing you to fit any CPU cooler you can think of without removing the motherboard. As a reviewer who often ends up with CPU coolers that use their own custom retention mechanisms, I can't tell you how much easier my life would be if all cases had this kind of attention to detail.
