Perhaps unsurprisingly, the first thing we can see if just how diminutive this controller card is, fitting into the length you'd expect of a PCI Express 2.0 1x card perfectly, with the board supporting both PCI Express 2.0 and 1.1 while also serving to act as a half-height card when equipped with the correct mounting bracket.

At the heart of this device is the same NEC chip seen on most of the motherboards which have added USB 3.0 support to their specification, with this chip supporting two devices as per the specification of the card itself.

Additional power is required via a single four-pin Molex connector attached to the rear of the card - This allows the device to provide juice to powered USB devices, to the tune of 900 mA per port.

Kingston Technology recently introduced the world's first ultra-low voltage DDR3 dual channel memory kit that operates with just 1.25 volts at 1600MHz. The new offering is part of the new Kingston 'LoVo' (low voltage) HyperX DDR3 High-Performance memory product line. Read on to see how the Kingston HyperX LoVo memory kit performs and see how much power it can save!

The Kingston HyperX LoVo memory kit was great to review as we learned a number of things during testing the memory kit. The first is that not all motherboards have DDR3 (vDIMM) voltage settings that go low enough to support memory kits like this. This is an easy fix by motherboard manufactures, but it will require a BIOS update in order to support super low voltages like 1.25V. The second thing that we learned is that memory voltages and memory clock frequencies play a serious role in power consumption! To be honest we never looked that close at power consumption at various clock frequencies when keeping the vDIMM and memory timings constant. It was an eye opener to how big of a power consumption difference we were seeing at the wall when going from just 1333MHz with 1.24V to 1600MHz with 1.24V...

That's where the Modu87+ and Pro87+ range of PSUs come in. They're designed to bring some of the engineering excellence found in the Revolution PSUs to mainstream users, with Modu87+ units ranging from 500W to 800W, whilst only 500W and 600W Pro87+ units are available. The Modu87+ and Pro87+ units are very similar, apart from the Modu87+'s use of Modular cabling, which can drastically reduce cable clutter, but obviously adds to the cost of the unit.

At first glance StarTech's docking station almost looks more like a miniature paper shredder than its actual purpose, but a closer look allows you to clearly see just how the device operates.

At the top of the device we find a hole in which you can plug any 2.5" Serial ATA hard drive, with a larger flap that allows for 3.5" drives to be connected just as easily. With a drive in place, you can simply press the power button to switch the docking station on and off.

When you're finished working with a particular drive, it can be easily ejected via this button on the side of the docking station.
