OCC has published a new review of the Sapphire HD 2900 XT Video Card

Precious gems seem to attract anyone and everyone, but one has always been a favorite of mine and that is a genuine sapphire. Just the pure blue color of it grabs my attention even more than a diamond. Sapphire Technology has just released one of their newest gems, the long anticipated Sapphire HD 2900 XT, a video card based on ATI's newest R600 GPU chipset. The R600 chipset was originally planned for release in early 2007, but setbacks have pushed back its release. Hopefully, this extra time has allowed AMD/ATI to make the R600 the best it can be. The Sapphire HD 2900 XT is a DirectX 10 video card that will finally give some competition to nVidia's DirectX 10 series GPUs.

Legit Reviews posted a review on the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT Video Card

Contrary to what you may believe, the HD 2900XT that we are looking at here today is not meant to compete against NVIDIA’s 8800 Ultra or even the GTX. Instead AMD aimed at a lower price target, the 8800 GTS. With a launch price of $399 AMD intends to take the mid/high end market segment instead of going after the faster 8800 GTX and Ultra. As much as they want to sugar coat it, the R600 in its current iteration is just not capable of getting the clock speed up to the level needed to go toe to toe with the GTX/Ultra in every situation...

HardwareLogic posted Antec P182 Case Review

We see it all the time; a company puts out a product on the verge of greatness, but ultimately hampered by a few deal-breaking flaws. Such was the case (giggle) with Antec's P180, a quiet enclosure that suffered from a poor blueprint for cable management. They've heard your complaints, and the redesigned P182 attempts to be what the P180 should have all along. Can they pull it off, or should Antec have stuck to the drawing board just a bit longer?

XYZ Computing has a new article out on the Razer Pro|Type Keyboard

A lot of the initial excitement about the Pro|Type has had to do with its integrated iPod dock. The Tarantula has a modular bay that can be outfitted with a number of different accessories, like a light or speakers, and other things that can be useful to gamers. The Pro uses this space for an iPod, something that a lot of people, designers or otherwise, will be able to take advantage of. It's a bit gimmicky, but definitely useful. The dock is fully functional, so it can be used to charge or sync your iPod, as well as give you a safe place to stay put when not in use. They keyboard takes this notion a step further by including a line-out jack so that the iPod can connect to speakers without the computer.

Bios Magazine posted a review on the USRobotics Wireless MAXg ADSL2+ Kit

USRobotics' MAXg Wireless ADSL2+ Networking Kit (=A343.49 ex. VAT) includes everything you need to connect to and share your ADSL Internet service in your small office. It also brings the benefits of high-performance wireless networking to your business. The Wireless MAXg ADSL2+ Gateway integrates the company's latest ADSL and MAXg wireless technologies for a 'complete' small-business broadband network. MAXg technology delivers a claimed 50% range improvement over standard 802.11g and provides wireless speeds of up to 125Mbps, although actual performance will vary depending on operating environment and distance between networked devices. In reality, you should expect little more than a 15% increase, which is still good.

Neoseeker has published a review of ATI's HD 2900 XT flagship card

Probably the most important factor going into purchasing a new video card is value and pricing. From our benchmarking results, we can conclude that the 2900XT will outperform the GeForce GTS 640MB in some cases and lose in some others. To say whether one is better than the other right now would be neglecting the fact that none of our games are DX10 compatible, in fact no games are DX10 compatible currently (although the world's first downloadable DX10 playable demo will be available this or next week, which ups the ante quite a bit). So what we can take into account is value. From a bundling standpoint alone, the 2900XT has several package items that will be of value to most if not all people buying the card. The gaming voucher from Valve will allow you to play all three new releases from the giant game developer and apparently a fourth game, Day of Defeat: Source, will also be part of the voucher as well. All of these games are produced off the Source engine and have historic backgrounds (minus portal). Secondly the HDMI converter is a sweet addition which works in tandem with the on-chip audio controller to carry both audio and video feeds. If anything is lacking for the G80 series right now it is HDMI availability.

Samsung's foray into the Windows Smartphone sector has positioned BlackJack against the well known competing devices, such as the Moto Q phone and the T-Mobile Dash. OCC has published a new review of the NZXT Precise 1000W Power Supply

If you are anything like me I tend to keep components like my power supply and case for much longer than I will keep the other internal components, like the motherboard or RAM. So when choosing the power supply, I always try to get the best of what's available at the time of purchase, to reduce the chances of having to change it in less than a couple of years. As with most other components in today's market, you have a wide variety of products to choose from. Power supplies range from 200W to 1200W and are continuing to increase in output and available options. NZXT is a relatively new player in the market of cases and now power supplies. The Precise 1000W is one of the newest power supplies that it has to offer.

When I first began repairing computers, power supply units caused me the most problems. Howtoforge published a tutorial about using munin and monit on Debian GNU/Linux 4.0

In this article I will describe how you can monitor your Debian Etch server with munin and monit. munin produces nifty little graphics about nearly every aspect of your server (load average, memory usage, CPU usage, MySQL throughput, eth0 traffic, etc.) without much configuration, whereas monit checks the availability of services like Apache, MySQL, Postfix and takes the appropriate action such as a restart if it finds a service is not behaving as expected. The combination of the two gives you full monitoring: graphics that let you recognize current or upcoming problems (like "We need a bigger server soon, our load average is increasing rapidly."), and a watchdog that ensures the availability of the monitored services.

The Guru of 3D posted a review on the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB video card

Featuring AMD ATi Radeon HD 2900 XT - A closer look into the cat's eye.

Hey everybody, and welcome to the Radeon HD 2000 Series article. Oh my gosh ... Have we all been waiting for this release a long time, or what? I mean initially we (the press) expected this release late last year already. And due to a complexity of issues (AMD and ATI merger), likely fabrication issues and a shift in fabrication process things got delayed; massively. So right now it's April 25th and today 175 press-members are returning from a long technical briefing in Tunisia and I can happily report to you that AMD has now released the ATI Radeon HD 2000 series of product... well, sort of.

t-Break takes a look at the Radeon HD 2900 XT video card

With the release of the HD 2900 XT today, the company formerly known as ATI is doing things a little differently. I'm not sure if this is the effect of ATI being a part of AMD now or something else, but different can be good. First of all, the Radeon series has changed the model numbering slightly. Instead of being modelled as X-something, the new GPUs from AMD will now be called HD-something. The one I'm looking at today is the HD 2900 XT. The second thing thats different is that this particular card, which is the first in its series, is not the highest-end graphics card. In the past, ATI and nVidia have always launched their flagship products but AMD is doing things a bit differently. The HD 2900 XT is set to compete against nVidia's 8800GTS and is priced at US$ 399/- for a 512MB version.

Overclocker Cafe posted a review on the Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w PSU

In the end, the pros far outweigh the cons. If your case can take the 200mm depth of the unit, the only thing left is the price. With a MSRP of $385, the Tt Toughpower is priced right in line with the rest of the field. Many of the competition's units don't offer half as many features let alone do the work quietly as the 140mm low speed high flow fan does. The shopper looking at this unit will be someone with a need to power big ticket items who won't skimp where it counts with regards to power.
