Nvidia GeForce GTX 480/470 vs. ATI Radeon HD 5870/5850: Comparison Revisited
TechSpot updated their Nvidia GeForce GTX 480/470 vs. ATI Radeon HD 5870/5850 comparison review

Although the Nvidia GeForce 400 series has been out for about 2 months now, it'd seem the jury is still out on whether or not the series is a success. Some will tell you the GeForce GTX 480 is a power-hungry expensive GPU that failed to deliver, while others claim it lived up to the expectations as the world’s fastest single GPU graphics card and that power consumption figures are for sissies.

While we feel the truth might lie somewhere in the middle, it is time to take another look at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480/470 vs. ATI Radeon HD 5870/5850 comparison.

We also wanted to revisit this high-end graphics card battle to settle a belief of the green team fans that the GeForce GTX 480 is far superior to the Radeon HD 5870 when measuring minimum frames per second. Say what! Another processor?” Well, yeah, what else are they going to do over at Intel. Someone is always actively looking for good ways of making current generation processors better. Of course, these are just the ones we know about. When they’re not busy launching a processor, they’re busy working on other projects like fine tuning their DP55KG, or DP55WG motherboards. Today, we get to see a tweak in their processors which include a new Core i5-655K and Core i7-875K “K Series” processors. Trickling down some tech from their top end chips (and aiming straight at AMD Black Edition parts) the new processors offer some multiplier unlocking goodness at a more affordable price. Let’s see how they perform!

How to Build Your Own Watercooling Heatcore
OCModShop posted a guide about building a watercooling heatcore

One such viable alterative that is readily available and easily modified is a heatercore. While there are many different models that can be modified to work in a watercooling system, one that has gained quite a following is the Chevrolet Chevette heatercore. More specifically, the heatercore for the 1986 Chevette, Fedco part number 2-161 or GDI part number 399069, which is approximately 6-1/8x 6-3/8 x 2. The factory tubes are 3/4 and 5/8 which require some modification to work with 1/2 ID tubing used in a watercooling system but this modification is not that complicated and well worth it considering that most auto parts stores have this heatercore for around $22. Additionally, the tools needed for the modifications are fairly inexpensive and they are likely ones that most already have on hand.
