A Virtual Machine is a piece of software which emulates (pretends), to be machine (computer) to do an abnormal task such as running Windows on a Macintosh computer for example, to occur via the trapping of computer instructions. It is quite literally a computer running ON a computer. One of the by-products of this is that the two systems can be entirely separated from each other, which allows a level of security that just can't be matched. Now, lets create our own XP Virtual Machine.

A.C. Ryan has really impressed me with their build quality and thought process. From the packaging on, quality of build really expresses itself. The 1.8mm thick aluminum creates a great cooling side affect along with a durability that can only come from a thick metal. The ability to connect both SATA and IDE drives is not uncommon in the market place, but having both of these features along with the options for using USB and eSATA for data transfer is awesome.

The WNR854T is a snap to setup and configure thanks to the bundled wizard, but it's not without its shortcomings. Most noticeably, there is no wall-mount option (which is where you'll get best reception) and the upright case with internal antenna makes positioning difficult. The cords also tug at the very light case. It also lacks configuration for QoS, has support for only one DDNS provider, and port forward/port triggering options are sparsely populated. But for many, these advanced features don't mean much. The back of the router has the usual four-port switch, and the front has a nice array of easy to read indicator lights. Ultiamtely it's speed, security and manageability that counts, and Netgear's WNR854T is the fastest of the draft-N routers we've tested. It also has some great extras, such as a Gigabit switch, but it does disappoint slightly at long range. Nevertheless, if you are thinking of making the move to draft-802.11n, you can't do much better than this top wireless performer.

We've been teasing you about the factory overclocked properties of this board for long enough, so it's time to lift the lid on just what those clock speeds are. Starting with the Superclocked's core clock speed (which basically denotes the clock speed of anything on the board that isn't memory or Stream Processors); this sees an increase to 576MHz from the reference 500MHz speed used by NVIDIA. As the clock speed of G80's Stream Processors are tied to this core clock by a particular ratio, we also see a big increase in this discipline, up to 1.35GHz from 1.2GHz on a reference board - That puts it in line with a GeForce 8800 GTX for raw speed, albeit not in the sense of the actual number of shading units. Finally, the 640MB of GDDR3 memory on board gets itself an extra 50MHz to play with, clocked to 850MHz against the 800MHz of a reference part.

We have had decent luck thus far with 1066MHz kits overclocking beyond the 1100MHz barrier, though they had trouble exceeding 1125MHz. I'm glad to say that the OCZ Reaper HPC kit managed to break this barrier coming in with a stable overclock of 106MHz, putting the cap at 1172MHz.
