Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 CPU Review
HotHardware.com posted a review on the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 CPU

It was not too long ago that the web was buzzing with dual-core versus quad-core debates. Sides were taken and lines were drawn. At that time, one of the main arguments against quad-core processors was their high asking price. But as time passed and manufacturing refinements were made, costs steadily decreased and quad-cores found their way into the more mainstream market segments. And before you knew it, a price war was imminent.

Intel and AMD have been going at one another for years. With AMD unable to compete well at the ultra high-end of the market, however, their focus shifted towards the mainstream market segments. As always, Intel responded and their most recent salvo comes in the form the affordable Core 2 Quad Q8400 processor. Since the Q9400, a 2.66GHz Yorkfield quad-core, was already on the market, why did Intel feel the need to release another, affordable quad-core model? One reason could be to increase yield and utilize dies that would otherwise be discarded. Another reason would be to position another product at the same price point as AMD's. Whatever the case may be, competition is always good for the consumer as it usually drives prices lower and provides more options to choose from. With that in mind, let's take a look at the Intel Core 2 Quad 8400 to see if it's worthy of consideration for your next build...

NZXT Cryo S Notebook Cooler Review
Futurelooks checks out a new notebooks cooler from NZXT

It’s partly because I tend to work out of some rather cramped quarters, but I haven’t owned a desktop computer in years. Instead, my trusty notebook has become my main computer, handling all of my image editing, word processing, and social networking. One thing that I learned very quickly, however, is that the built-in cooling on most laptops can leave much to be desired.

Kingston HyperX Fan Review
DragonSteelMods.com posted a review on the Kingston HyperX Fan

Kingston recently introduced the HyperX Fan to compliment their HyperX line of ram, but it can be purchased separately for use with any ram, and they were kind enough to send one over for review. Normally this kind of thing is not very useful really, in my experience with ram coolers they tend not to work very well, but the HyperX Fan is truly an exception. The HyperX Fan works, and works very well, it's easy to install and the bright blue LEDs will add a bit of color to your case. So read on to check it out and learn just how well it performs...

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s Notebook Review
HotHardware posted a review on the Lenovo ThinkPad T400s Notebook

Lenovo's notebooks span the entire spectrum, offering low-cost models such as the G530, netbooks such as the IdeaPad Y530, and high-end models such as the ThinkPad W700. Today, we're taking a closer look at Lenovo's newest offering, the ThinkPad T400s, a thin and light model that's designed to give users a blend of portability, performance, and energy-efficiency. This notebook is the company's thinnest and lightest T Series model, weighing 3.91 pounds and measuring just 0.82 inches thick. The T400s incorporates many features from Lenovo's best selling notebook, the T400, and combines it with the some of the traits of the ThinkPad X300, which is part of Lenovo's lightest line.

In addition to being Lenovo's lightest T Series model, the company boasts that the T400s is 22% lighter and 17% thinner than Dell's E6400 and 22% lighter and 30% thinner than HP's 6930P notebook. As you should expect though, the portability and performance of the ThinkPad T400s comes at a higher price than everyday notebooks that aren't quite as portable. Come on by the site and check it out...

Wacom Intuos4 Review
Maximum CPU has posted its review of the Wacom Intuos4 tablet

Over the years, I've owned a number of WACOM tablets. It started with a relatively inexpensive Graphire 2 (small) USB tablet, and I still use it to this day. I take it to classes and use it as a lightweight note-taking tool, but its lack of extra features beyond pressure sensitivities keeps me from using it for extended Photoshop use. I have recently reviewed the Intuos 3, which offered a number of additional control surfaces alongside the tablet area. The Intuos 4 is the next progression in WACOMs line, offering a number of advancements in its extraneous controls, and an upgrade to the main tablet sensitivity.

OCZ Rally 2 USB Thumb Drive Review
TheTechLounge posted a review on the OCZ Rally 2 USB Thumb Drive

Though the flash drive doesn't have the classic OCZ cheesegrater heats preaders, it is completely clad in what looks to me to be lightly-powdercoated aluminum. Which makes it one of the toughest, if simple, flash drives I've ever used. The charcoal body has its decorations but nothing that stand out over the blazing orange activity light.

Zowie IO 1.1 Professional Gaming Bundle Review
OCC has published a new review on the Zowie IO 1.1 Professional Gaming Bundle

Overall, this bundle doesn't do all that well. The performance of the mouse pulls this bundle down quite a bit, and if not for the mouse pad, I doubt it could fit the title of "Professional Gaming Bundle" at all. At best it could be called a "Gaming Bundle," but to be "Professional" it should be bundled with a much better mouse. The mouse pad was a great performer in my tests, and outranked a standard mouse pad in nearly every test. It could probably do as well as the competition out on the market now. So Zowie manufactures great mouse pads, but this bundle really could use a pick me up in the mouse department. I like the idea of bundling together these items, and I have yet to see this implemented by any other company. Unlike most gaming mice out there, which offer software customization as well as on the fly DPI adjustment, the Zowie IO 1.1 Professional Gaming Bundle features none of these things, and only provides a mouse from another company with a special coating on it. As a matter of fact, I am sure that Microsoft does bundle software in with its mice, and yet it was absent with the Microsoft mouse found in this bundle. I can only take products as-is, and it probably would do better if only Zowie had bundled software in this package as well. As far as price goes, for $87.99, this bundle is a little pricey for what is being offered.

NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Review
The Guru of 3D posted a review on the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision

With this kit finally available in Europe, we figured it was time for a review.

In this article we will test and review the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision stereo kit. NVIDIA teamed up with Samsung to optionally bundle 120 Hz LCD monitors with their all new 3D stereo shutter glasses technology. NVIDIA on their end got driver support up and going to a state where it's really good. Next to that, they redesigned the approach to the overall gaming experience.

A set of shutter glasses that is wireless and rechargeable, games that are supported in the new drivers will automatically kick in 3D mode and next to that, NVIDIA really wanted a cool looking kit.

XtremeGear Xtreme Cooler HP-1216 CPU Cooler Review
TweakTown posted a review on the XtremeGear Xtreme Cooler HP-1216 CPU Cooler

CyberPower has built some pretty sleek computers that Chris has reviewed for us, like the Black Mamba Venom System and Black Pearl as examples. These PCs are assembled with all the latest hardware, cases and cooling systems. If the Asetek LCLC Liquid Cool CPU Cooler or the Cooler Master V8 aren’t your cup of tea, or you are just short of the total funds needed for purchasing such a system, there are options to save on a few components and customize these systems to both your needs and credit limits.

XtremeGear has developed the Xtreme Cooler HP-1216 air cooling solution to add to CyberPower’s lineup. Personally testing four of the optional choices, I already have a good idea of what the field has to offer, both in performance and pricing. Let’s get down to business and see what XtremeGear has brought to CyberPower and how well it stacks up to the already reasonable air cooling choices available.

Cooler Master Sileo 500 Mid-Tower ATX Computer Case Review
Tweaknews posted Cooler Master Sileo 500 Mid-Tower ATX Computer Case Review

If, as they say, silence is golden, then Cooler Master chose the wrong color for their Sileo 500 computer case. As this review shows, the Sileo is clearly up to the task of keeping even the most demanding hardware comfortably cool, and doing it at near silence. After playing with this chassis for a week or so, I can assure you it would be very easy to build a silent machine using this chassis and some carefully chosen mainstream hardware.

The Trident Series from G.Skill is a very affordable kit, but manages up to 2000 MHz right out of the box. The kit also has very nice high quality heatspreaders. We push the kit to 1.65 V and way beyond that to see check for additional OC potential or if it manages to impress us with a great price / performance ratio.
