Mad Shrimps posted NVIDIA Low Budget 7300 GT vs 8500 GT Comparison

When we finished our first round of testing with the PNY 7300 GT DDR2 and 8500 GT DDR2 we came to the conclusion that the 7300 GT was only able to keep up with the newer card if we overclocked it. NVIDIA had succeeded in making a new generation low end card which improved performance over its predecessor. But then we got our hands on a DDR3 equipped 7300 GT and we had to change our conclusion.

bit-tech published a 900W to 1100W power supply group test

None of the PSUs we've looked at are perfect, even the recommended Tagan comes short by not including the 8-pin PCI-Express connectors and as stated, even the perfectly featured Enermax is "noisy", heavy and physically huge. Virtually all the tests performed extremely well with only a couple of cases dropping outside of ATX spec and the OCZ at 100 percent load falling below 80 percent efficiency.

InsideHW.com is looking at Intel's newest additions to Pentium and Core 2 Duo family.

NetBurst is already history, whereas the Core architecture is the very high-end of CPU offer nowadays, but still Intel decided to resurrect Pentium and give it another shot. Pentium E2000 processors have only 1MB of L2 cache, but when overclocked and compared to newest C2D E6420 processors with 4MB of L2 cache, they put impressive performance for sub-100USD processors. Let's see what Pentium E2140 / E2160 and Core 2 Duo E6320 / E6420 have to offer...

XYZ Computing has posted a review on the Asus MW201U 20 Inch LCD Display

This review will be taking a look at Asus' MW201U, a twenty inch widescreen LCD display. Judging from your initial impression of the display you can probably already tell that Asus is not reinventing the LCD monitor with the MW201U but is instead trying to offer a solid alternative to big name manufacturers like Samsung, Dell, and Viewsonic. Asus has a pretty big name itself, but when it comes to display sales in the US it's still an underdog. Their monitors are aimed at enthusiasts who like the brand and people looking for a good deal on a performance monitor. With the MW201U currently going for $249 it looks like a lot of monitor for the money.

Mikhailtech take a look at Xtrac's Ripper XXL, the world's largest mouse "pad"

The Ripper XXL is without a doubt the largest mouse surface I've ever
seen. In fact, the product's motto is "it's not just a mouse pad, it's a desktop experience". And they're right - there's no way you could use the "pad" for just a mouse. It's meant to cover your entire work area and then some. For those wondering, the XXL measures 36" x 18", enough to clothe a small child. Perhaps that was the intent all along.

FrostyTech posted Akasa AK-965 Intel Core 2 Duo Heatsink Review

Akasa's AK-965 heatsink utilizes three "U" shaped copper heatpipes to connect a compact copper base block with widely spaced aluminum fins. It's 95mm PWM fan spins only as fast as needed to achieve good temperature control, and works well at moving air relatively quietly through the aluminum fins. Copper heatpipes are positioned close to the processor, and in the direct path of airflow at the other end. All good thermal design criteria in fact. Now if this heatsink looks familiar to you, it's because this arrangement of copper and aluminum works, so many other companies have released similarly built heatsinks.

techPowerUp posted a review on the Mushkin XP2-6400 2 GB CL4 Kit

Mushkin is well known for the solid memory kits they make. Today we have the Mushkin XP2-6400 2 GB on our test bench. These modules are specced to run at DDR2-800 at CL4. With a price of $150 for 2 GB this kit is sure not the cheapest, but it comes with Micron D9 memory chips. In our testing we saw very nice voltage scaling up to DDR2-1136 at CL5.

GamePyre posted Halo 2 PC Game Review

Halo 2 PC is no reason to run out and upgrade to Vista, which is one thing you can be sure of. I don't know if Microsoft was trying to get more people to buy Windows Vista or what, but just don't. This makes the cost for most users far more than just the $50 to buy Halo 2, but also a Windows Vista upgrade. Wait for a good game that actually takes advantage of DirectX10 before you do that.

So what else will get fixed as part of the first service pack for Vista?

I ran a short list on July 8 of some of the fixes and enhanced functionality that my sources are telling me will be part of Vista SP 1, a first beta of which is due to go to selected testers the week of July 16.

OCC has published a new review of the Maxtor 750GB OneTouch III

The amount of data we go through and accumulate these days is absolutely insane. With the ever broadening landscape of the information super highway, higher resolution games, more in depth and sophisticated
software, not to mention photographs, movies and music, our need to find storage room grows just as fast. The storage has to not only be secure but high speed and portable as well. It definitely doesn't hurt if it looks cool, too. To this end Maxtor has recently introduced a line up of high speed, external hard drives. The 750 GB Maxtor OneTouch III boasts bus transfer rates of up to 800 Mb/sec and sustained transfer rates of 73 MB/sec. Could this be the solution to my data dilemma?

Elite Bastards posted a review on the Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 GPU cooler review

The principle behind the Accelero S2 is simple enough - The cooler's two copper heat pipes draw heat away from the GPU core, where they are dissipated amongst the thirty-one aluminium fins on the heat sink. From here, cool air from the case removes that heat, where it can be exhausted out of the back of the case thanks to the inclusion of a ventilated backplate for the second slot occupied by the cooler. Also included with the S2 are eight RAM sinks, to attach to the board's memory modules, completing the passive cooling solution.
