Kingston SSDNow V 128GB Laptop Upgrade Kit
Bjorn3D takes a look at the Kingston SSDNow V 128GB Laptop Upgrade Kit

SSD's are an important evolution in the computer hardware field, offering greater reliability, no moving parts and higher transfer speeds. The hold back on SSD's has been price, with an unfavorable price per gigabyte ratio they have been slow in gaining mainstream acceptance.

Many laptops heading out the factory door don't have very good hard drives in them, sure they work but the performance we've seen on them is fairly low. Much to our horror we saw 30MB/s on the Toshiba Satellite we use around the lab. Right out of the factory spanking new they tossed a Hitachi Deskstar 120GB HD that averages 30MB/s in a decent laptop with 4GB of ram and a T5300 Intel Dual Core processor.

So how do we eliminate that bottleneck and still keep months of data and work intact without having to reinstall the OS, move mounds of data, reinstall the programs to use the data. A task that has taken a couple of days in the past now a simple easy to use kit offers to alleviate all that headache. Count us in we've got to see this.

Coolink SWiF2 Series Fan Review
Hi Tech Legion posted Coolink SWiF2 Series Fan Review

The overall performance of the Coolink SWiF2 series of fans was actually quite good. The temperature dropped a full degree Celsius on the graphics cards when compared to the stock fan in the rear of the test case, and the overall sound output dropped slightly. The more impressive performer of this series was the PWM regulated 120 mm fan and its use on the Xigmatek heatsink. The temperatures of the load testing on the Xigmatek saw a 3 degree drop in temperature with the Coolink fan installed and, in addition, the overall noise output of the case was reduced significantly, which was easily noticed during auditory observation.

Thrustmaster T.1600 PC Joystick Review
TechGaming posted a review on the Thrustmaster T.1600 PC Joystick

Despite the fact that flight simulator games can be played with a keyboard and mouse, a joystick adds extra realism and enables you to immerse yourself further into the game. It feels like you are actually flying the aircraft rather than simply mashing buttons on a keyboard.

Today, Thrustmaster have provided us with their T.16000M for review, which despite sounding like a terminator, is from their range of joysticks. It has some rather impressive features such as a resolution of 16000 x 16000, 16 buttons and 3D magnetic sensors. But do all these features add up to make a great joystick?

Even though there are lots of color and style choices in computer peripherals today, G-Cube is unique in that it offers products designed specifically with women in mind. After trying out their wireless notebook mouse I have to say I'm impressed with both the look and the performance of it. The style is feminine, classy and the tiny size is convenient for the traveling laptop user.

Noctua NH-U9B CPU Cooler Review
Verdis Reviews posted a review on the Noctua NH-U9B CPU Cooler

In the thermal solutions market, the name Noctua is a highly respected one that is synonymous with a very high build quality and great performance. Their product base is fairly limited though with a total of three different heatsinks but when you can produce products such as the NH-U12P and NH-C12P, you don't exactly need a huge selection.

Noctua's flagship model, the NH-U12P is known throughout the industry and with the addition of an LGA1366 mounting kit; it's moved onto the i7 scene. Perhaps the one downfall of this product is its size and this is where, the third heatsink comes into its own. The NH-U9B, effectively the baby brother of the larger NH-U12P, features the same 4 dual heatpipes but is a much smaller heatsink utilised the 92mm NF-B9 fan. But, how much cooling potential will the heatsink lose in its slimmed down version, let's take a look.

GMC R4 Bulldozer Case Review
Neoseeker reviews the GMC R4 Bulldozer LAN party case

The overall look I found very appealing it has an aggressive look that makes this chassis stand out in a crowd and get noticed. The external ODD was very innovative in its placement, the temperature displays were fairly accurate (only out by a degree or two when compared to monitoring software) and the added ease of watching what your system is doing when you're gaming is nice touch.

Kingston SSDNow V+ Series 64GB Solid State Disk Review
TweakTown takes a look at the Kingston SSDNow V+ Series 64GB Solid State Disk

Just recently we reviewed the Kingston SSDNow V Series drive that uses the JMicron 602 controller which has been reworked by Kingston and Toshiba. The V Series has a very respectable price performance ratio, but it is hardly what I would call an enthusiasts product. Just hours after our review of the V Series Kingston announced their V+ Series of drives in 64, 128 and 256GB capacities. Just like the original V Series press release, the controller used for the product line was not listed. I completely understand the omission from the V Series press release, but the V+ Series does not have to worry about the JMicron reputation since it carries one of the most advanced chipsets on the market today, the Samsung S3C29RBB01-YK40.

The Samsung controller has a unique feature called Self-Healing. The drive is able to cleanse itself of deleted data without being ordered to by the operating system. Indilinx has a similar feature, but there are some strong imperfections that make garbage collection troublesome. The Indilinx system requires a single drive, no RAID support and the drive must be the boot drive. Not exactly the stipulations an enthusiast can live with since RAID is now built into every mainstream motherboard sold on the planet.

Boasting sound-dampening foam, anti-vibration HDD mounts, and two silent-running 800RPM 120mm fans, the Sileo 500 is an interesting break from Cooler Master's usual chassis design. A long-time manufacturer of high-end gaming cases, it appears Cooler Master is now adding silent computing to their arsenal. Benchmark Review will take a closer look at the RC-500-KKR3-GP model and finds out if the Sileo 500 worthy of the name and your money.

7 Most Common Packet-Sniffer Mistakes
OCModShop posted the 7 most common packet-sniffer mistakes

Software default settings are very seldom correct for YOU. For example, a device may say that a SQL server should respond in 50ms. But, if that device is across a WAN with a 200ms ping time--that is highly unlikely. This causes false SLOW SQL messages. This is only an example, but there are many such alerts and messages based on default "thresholds" within this type of software tool's configuration.

Particulars of your environment may create false alerts or oth
er messages. The definitions of what is an excessive delay--latency--broadcasts, etc, are up to you--not the tool.
