Considering that the price for DDR2 is getting cheaper by the day, the FlexXLC PC2-9200 is quite expensive for a DDR2. However, this is not your average DDR2 as it is rated to run at 575MHz. The FlexXLC did not only overclock as advertised, but it also stunned us as it allowed us to overclock beyond 600MHz without touching its VDIMM or latency. With a maximum overclock at 651MHz, the FlexXLC breached the DDR2-1300 rating which was possible at 5-5-5 latencies. However, it required a little bit more voltage to achieve this but it was certainly good enough to put a big smile on our face.

First, we know now that both Corsair's and Super Talent's high speed memory kits are able to outpace the latest DDR2 memory setups when they are run at the 1800 MHz+ speeds they are rated at. The deficit that is accepted by increasing the latencies on the modules to reach these speeds was less than we expected and allowed the memory to run at such high speeds. The latency results showed that even in the random access cases that the higher speeds with slower latencies is the highest performing setup for the time being.

Power supplies are interesting products -- because often, reviews of products in this category are conducted and tested in methods that make it difficult to distinguish one power supply from another. Many aspects have to be taken into consideration -- of which certain criteria consists of efficiency, noise, power ripple, and of course the ability to pull out the rated specifications. Because many cannot afford such equipment to obtain results regarding those aspects, articles covering power supplies often come out with less than adequate information. We cannot say that we haven't once fallen into a similar trap, although we still stand by our recommendations -- because the products we've recommend were tested with professional equipment which already clearly demonstrated to us that they are indeed excellent products! However, we will go for a different approach as we report on the Tagan ITZ 700W power supply today -- let's have a close examination on the hardware aspects of it, and let other review sites with professional equipment show you the results. After all, the internet is the place for researching your hardware components!

This kit is not all show and no go,it performs extremely well even with low voltages. There are some downfalls though; they did not respond to voltages higher than 2.3V when running CL5, and they lagged behind the slower OCZ Platinums in some of the Everest and Sisoft Sandra tests. On the other hand, the top frequency results were out of this world! Hitting DDR2-1121 with 2.3V is not something that happens every day.

OCC has published a new review of the Sigma Atlantis Case

The hard drive cage in this case is very interesting. There is a 120mm fan on one end, and if you remove the two thumb screws on either side, you then can pull a lever out and it unlocks cage, allowing it to be rotated. This feature could make the upgrade or addition of a hard drive easeier after the initial build has been completed. You wouldn't have to take the video card out of the case to be able to slide another drive into the cage this way.

Thermaltake's Orb series has been very popular. We have checked out both the Ruby Orb, and Golden Orb. Each of them performed well and received good scores. The MaxOrb has a little different design, but still has the "Orb" motif. The MaxOrb features a 6 heatpipe design, 120mm fan, and a copper base. Although the base is made of copper the rest of the heatsink is aluminum. Hopefully its design will come in to play to help cooling because as we all know copper cools much better than aluminum.

If you looked around the net at various forums I think it goes without saying that CoolerMaster's Cosmos 1000 generated some buzz when it was first revealed earlier this year. I have to say they have hit right on a lot of marks with this case. While no case will ever appeal to everyone, I think the Cosmos 1000 has a broad appeal with its styling. The steel construction obviously increases weight, but this also helps to prevent vibrational noise in the chassis. Overall the quality is superb, but it is the little things that keep me talking about this case to friends. From push button 5.25" installation, cable management and side panels released by levers, the Cosmos was built with ease of use in mind. The sound dampening material on the side panels is a nice touch and the panels fit together very securely, leaving no room for noise or vibration.

Let me clarify by saying that this case is huge. I want to get that out of the way. One of my favorite designs for cases is the matte finish for that modern look. The front has a smooth finish mixed with the matte to break up the monotony. With plenty of holes drilled out, they made sure there was somewhere for everything to vent, even above the PSU.

In true PC Apex fashion, I've voided the warranty to give you a good look at the internals. The heatsinks are not as large as others I've seen, but they are heavy duty. The soldered connections were done very solid with no visual defects noted. The fans are connected via removable connectors rather than soldered directly to the PCB which is nice for those who would like to use this power supply in a custom PC but change the fans for a different color scheme. Build quality was superb and all components were positioned well for optimum cooling.

At its heart, the Triton 75 makes use of four copper heat pipes to transfer heat away from the CPU, up to the numerous aluminium fins which make up the main body of the cooler so that this heat can then be dissipated. At either side of this cooler you can see a ridge, which is part of the installation mechanism for the optional 120mm fan which can be strapped to the top of the cooler to improve performance. All of that and it still manages to look pretty sleek and sexy to my eyes, while weighing in at a relatively lightweight 295 grams.
