Coolmaster released an all new heatpipe based cooler today. Now when you look at it, you'll say seen that, been there and done that. See, the difference here is this actually is a high performing cooler that will make your (for example) AMD or Core 2 Duo E6600 processor go crazy happy. Efficient cooling usually equals good overclocks, and since you are reading an article from the geeks at Guru3D, we'll simply overclock a CPU and follow it's heat buildup inside the processor.

Oh and hey before you start to wonder, sure, we'll do the regular photo-shoot, installation and benchmark session as well. Yep, all that hard labor for a 43 USD product. But it's worth it for sure

One of the computer world’s most famous quotes (although he probably never said it) is of course Bill Gates saying that ”we will never need more than 640 Kb of memory”. As we all know there can never be “enough” memory in a computer system. As memory gets cheaper and the upper limit of what the processor can address has increased, the memory need of the software we use somehow keeps increasing. Not only that, as the performance of the other components in a system increases, so does the demands on the memory.

While we have seen DDR3-memory for a while on video cards it is just now that this standard has started to appear in the regular system memory. Currently the only chipset that supports the new memory type is the P35 chipset from Intel but in the not so distant future (or even now depending on when you read this) Intel’s new X38 chipset will also have support for it.

Today I am reviewing a high-end DDR3 memory kit from Corsair: the TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF G DDR3 1800 MHz CAS DOMINATOR (I challenge anyone to say that really fast three times), from now on called the DOMINATOR Twin3X2048-1800C7D. While the highest official speed of DDR3 is 1333 MHz, Corsair has already managed to get even more speed out of it getting it to run at 1800MHz.

At the heart of the Xonar D2, under the fancy-looking EMI shield hich covers the top of the board much like a heat sink, you'll find the core of ASUS' abour of love - The AV200 HD audio processor. The word on the street is that this chip is very heavily based on CMedia's CMI 8788 Oxygen HD processor, which we've already seen used in myriad other discrete sound cards recently, although this has never been 100% officially confirmed to my knowledge.

Even assuming that the Xonar D2 is based around the CMI 8788 chip, this is certainly no bad thing, and the specifications of this part tends to back up the assumptions that CMedia have had more than a hand in the power behind this product, with the Xonar containing the full feature set seen in other Oxygen HD parts, from Dolby Digital Live and DTS interactive support through to 192KHz/24-bit audio support. Also similar to the CMI8788 is the AV200's 3D audio capabilities, with OpenAL supported, but only EAX 1.0 and 2.0 acceleration available - No EAX Advanced HD support here sadly, which might put off some gamers attracted to the ASUS board's looks and the company's often gamer-focused history.
