The SideWinder Mouse has some cool features like an LCD display built-in and an included accessory box that doubles as a cable holder. Sensitivity is 200 to 2000 dpi and adjustable on-the-fly. The thumb buttons are strange looking metal buds stacked vertically on the right side of the mouse. At first glance, it seems like one of those poor design calls where you will be ever pressing the spot where your thumb buttons used to be. However, the buttons are very intuitive, the bottom one goes backwards, and the top goes forward. It takes all of a second to get used to the unorthodox layout.

When looking for a mid-tower ATX case there are a few key features you want to look for. Make sure it has excellent air circulation, which this case does because it has one 120mm fan at the front, another at the back and two more optional 120mm fans can be installed on the left side panel. Be sure the case has enough drive bays, which this case does. It can be configured with 4x5.25" drive bays, 1x3.5" external and 4x2.5" internal drive bays or an alternate 9x5.25" drive bay setup. I sometimes wonder what kind of computers we would use if no-one played games. It is often said that it is the games that drive the development of new and faster technology and I definitely think that is correct. Who has heard anyone talking about upgrading their computer with a new Quad-Core CPU or GeForce 8800GTX just to “surf faster” or “write documents faster”?

Most of the new games work fine with the technology available but from time to time a game comes out that really stress the computer. Most of the times the game is a FPS (First Person Shooter) like Unreal, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 but recently we have seen that even RTS games, like Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander, have started to uses lots of graphical effects that really needs a beast of a computer system.

A week ago the game World in Conflict was released and this is yet another RTS that offers excellent visuals with lots of effects that all work together to bring your computer to its knees. I decided that it would be fun to see how different components in your system are affecting the performance in this game, possibly making it a bit easier to figure out what to upgrade if the game runs like a hog on your current system.

We'd like to say that this is ridiculously expensive but when the Striker Extreme arrived several months ago at £230 we thought the same of that, but Asus sold them as fast as it could make them. Obviously, quite a few of you must have considered this hefty sum reasonable value for money and will probably think the same of the P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP @n.

If you're already prepared to drop several hundred on DDR3 anyway, then your budget should already be large enough to accommodate this, and in that respect it's quite well suited, just as long as you don't short change yourself on the CPU and graphics front. This is a board for those where money is no object in your next upgrade. If you're after a good all-rounder that's packed to the gills with features, this will absolutely be the motherboard for you. For those looking for something a bit more fiscally conservative, don't worry because the Maximus and normal Deluxe should be far cheaper.
