PureAudio USB-SA Sound Card Review
I4U NEWS published a review of the PureAudio USB-SA Sound Card.

Today we are looking at the PureAudio USB-SA sound card. The device plugs into a vacant USB port and improves the sound quality for notebook and desktop computers significantly.

One thing that notebook computers tend to have in common is paltry sound systems. You can get some of the larger notebooks with a nice sound system, but for most mainstream notebooks or ultraportables, the onboard sound quality isn't great. Today we are looking at a USB sound card solution to the problem of poor laptop sound called the PureAudio USB-SA sound card. Read on for all the details.

First Look: Nvidia MCP7a GeForce 9 series mGPU
Bit-Tech published a first look at Nvidia's MCP7a GeForce 9 series mGPU

As we said, Nvidia's chipset is built on the 65nm TSMC process but what bumping material it uses we are unsure. Nvidia has already admitted problems with its mobile products, but recently HP has since issued specific warranty replacements for slimline desktop PCs that exclusively contain Nvidia integrated graphics products. Kept properly cool, there should be absolutely no problem unless you're one of the few who want to stuff one of these boards into a cramped HTPC setup with very little airflow to be as quiet and low profile as possible. In that situation, we'd advise being wary, but outside of this we doubt anyone else will ever have a problem.

On paper, the Nvidia GeForce 9-series IGPs stop quite a way short of being everything we wanted and were told it would be released earlier this year, meaning it's more than a little late. Despite this though, MCP7a does still appear to be a great chipset on paper provided you're interested in HTPC features. Using Nvidia's on words though - a slideshow is one thing, but actually using the final product is another - so check out our Zotac GeForce 9300 review to find how we actually get on with it.

Zotac's GeForce 9300 (MCP7a) Motherboard
bit-tech published a review of Zotac's GeForce 9300 (MCP7a) Motherboard

Zotac's board isn't the fastest or most capable out there, but for just being stable and for HTPC playback it's the best Intel solution currently available. The Nvidia GeForce 9300 gives it an underlying boost to be something great with dual digital displays, perfect HD HQV numbers (that we've not seen before) and Blu-ray playback that the Intel G45 can't match.

We do feel it underperforms in general productivity and in the hands of more capable Tier-1 manufacturers like Asus, MSI or Gigabyte we'd expect much greater potential to challenge the Intel G45 in core performance figures, BIOS options and overclocking. However for doing what it says on the tin the Zotac GeForce 9300 does work well and we haven't had a problem with it (certainly more than can be said for others), so while it's not perfect, it should make for a very compelling HTPC purchase.

ECS GF9300T-A Black Series GeForce 9300 Motherboard Review
Bigbruin.com has posted ECS GF9300T-A Black Series GeForce 9300 Motherboard

The ECS GF9300T-A Black Series GeForce 9300 motherboard is hopefully a BIOS update away from being an incredible motherboard. It seems well conceived and well designed, but there are just too many issues and limiting factors to get overly excited about it as is. The performance was respectable in many tests anyway, and it makes me wonder just how good this board could be (at stock speeds or overclocked) if it wasn't being held back.

nForce 730i MSI P7NGM Digital Review
Neoseeker takes a look at the micro-ATX motherboard the MSI P7NGM Digital, featuring the new nForce 730i chipset.

I have a feeling that the GeForce 9300 was rushed to market, and enough time was not spend optimizing the BIOS, especially when it came to memory timings. There is no other way to put it - the memory performance is atrocious, with the exception of writes - latencies are especially bad. I have to wonder if the BIOS thinks DDR2 is DDR3 and thus forces such ridiculous (even for DDR3!) timing values.

G.Skill F2 6400 CL4D-4GBPI-B Review
OCC has published a new review on the G.Skill F2 6400 CL4D-4GBPI-B

Considering the fact that modules run at cas 4 DDR2 800(400 FSB) at lower than the specified 1.9 volts with no issues, the overclocking potential looked promising. Getting to 900MHz(450FSB) was just a matter of adjusting the voltage to the voltage specified by G.Skill to run the modules at the stock speeds. Looking better! Pushing to 1000MHz (500FSB) required a couple of things from these modules. First was an increase in the vDimm to 1.95 volts and adjusting the CAS latency to 5 was needed to even boot. Still looking good at under 2.0 volts. Now pushing up to 1066MHz (533FSB) was where the drama started for me. I adjusted the timings to 5-5-5-12 to see if the modules would allow a boot at 2.0 volts! No go! 2.1 volts was still a no go, so I had to push 2.2 volts for 1066MHz to become a reality. Pushing higher even with 2.3 volts did not yield any additional increase in memory speed. So with my max speed set at 1066MHz at 2.2 volts, I went for the timings to see if they could be coaxed down any further. 5-5-4-12 at 1066MHz (533FSB) was the best I was able to achieve with the G.Skill Black PI modules.

MSI Radeon HD 4850 Video Card R4850-512M Review
Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the MSI Radeon HD 4850 Video Card R4850-512M

MSI takes what ATI started, and clean up a few rough edges. There's no doubting the performance potential of any Radeon HD 4850, but taming the beast within has been another story. All too often the industry produces a product a little too hot to handle, and the RV770 GPU is one fine example. Plagued with high heat output, it takes the daring minds at MSI to calm fire with ice. Benchmark Reviews has already tested the high-performance cooling options dedicated to the Radeon HD 4870: Sapphire has their Toxic and Palit has their Sonic, but it seems that the big names have overlooked the warm-blooded 4850. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the MSI Radeon HD 4850 video card R4850-512M SKU- MS-V803-285.

GIGABYTE EP45-UD3P Motherboard Review
TweakTown posted a review on the GIGABYTE EP45-UD3P Motherboard

GIGABYTE has been on the forefront of motherboard technology for some time; not only were they the first to introduce dual phase voltage systems on their boards to allow voltage phases above 8, but they were the first company to introduce the RoHS motherboards as well as being able to implement any sort of power saving technology on their boards. While others claim to save more power, GIGABYTE can’t be knocked for starting this power saving revolution and it continues today.

Just recently GIGABYTE added a new chapter to its motherboard line, namely the Ultra Durable 3 design. UD3 is the final replacement for the UD2 line that GIGABYTE has used for the last three years and hopefully we will see a lot more UD3 based boards in the near future. Today we have the first UD3 board to roll out from GIGABYTEs Taiwan factory; we graciously test out the EP45-UD3P.
