Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR3 1333 4 Gig Kit (2x2Gig) Review
Bjorn3D takes a looks at Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR3 1333 4 Gig Kit (2x2Gig)

Let's face it, DDR2 memory, while it's been a reliable product, is getting a little long in the tooth. Many of us have been looking to DDR3 for the next evolution of DDR. When the new Intel processors arrive, if you want to drive one of those bad boys, DDR3 is your only option. Though it took a while for DDR2 to be accepted and fully utilized, DDR3 is on a little faster track. When the Intel Integrated Memory Controllers in the new Nehalem chip make their entry into the market, DDR3 will come of age and be all the rage.

While rumors abound about voltage limitations on the new Intel chip, many are looking to lower and mid-range DDR3 as a solution. We're going to take a look at a Crucial Ballistix Tracers 4 Gigabit kit of DDR3 1333 and see if we can get a glimpse into the near future.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB video card Review
Elite Bastards posted Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB video card review

Sapphire's Radeon HD 4830 sticks with AMD's reference core and memory clock speeds, giving us clocks of 575MHz and 900MHz respectively.

From what we've so far, almost all AIB partners are opting to use custom cooling solutions in conjunction with their Radeon HD 4830 offerings, and this is certainly the case with Sapphire, who use the same rather fetching cooler recently seen on their Radeon HD 4850 part with custom cooling, comprising of a dual-slot cooler which covers the GPU core while also offering a certain amount of cooling to memory modules.

AeroCool AeroRacer Pro PC Case Review
TestFreaks.com posted a review on the AeroCool AeroRacer Pro PC Case

Today for review I've got a PC Case from our friends at AeroCool, it's called the AeroRacer Pro and it's certainly a case that sets itself apart from all of the others out there today. The AeroRacer features a large power button labeled 'Engine Start', and while that's a cool little feature, what really makes this case stand out is the fan used to cool the case. The fan for the AeroRacer is a whopping 40cm in size, it takes up most all of the left side panel, and it's fairly silent as well. It claims to be the biggest side panel fan in the world and I believe it, at least I haven't seen anything quite like it out there yet.

NVIDIA nForce 730i / GeForce 9300 Chipset Review
TweakTown posted NVIDIA nForce 730i / GeForce 9300 Chipset Review

Now Intel has the CPU of choice and with that comes support left, right and centre. While Intel has a huge array of chipsets for its own processor, support also comes from another source, that being from the biggest 3D chipset maker, NVIDIA.

While Intel has the best enthusiast chipsets out for the platform, Intel’s integrated graphics platforms simply can’t compete with the likes of NVIDIA’s IGP based setups. This is simply because NVIDIA has all of its 3D chip technology to call on for integration into its chipsets, keeping it ahead of chipzilla.

TerraTec DMX 6Fire USB Audio Card Review
ITreviewed posted a review on the TerraTec DMX 6Fire USB Audio Card

Terratec's DMX 6Fire USB looks and sounds great (bright, punchy and has a wide dynamic range), and would make a great upgrade for those looking to start producing their own voice and music recordings. It's even good for gamers and those running a media centre, but it's ideally suited to DJs and budding musicians. With its array of features and ports, with the right equipment connected it would make an outstanding addition which would certainly enhance your current setup. It's not a professional-level product, but it's more than good enough for most of us.

MSI's P45 Platinum and Diamond Motherboards
HotHardware.com takes a look at MSI's P45 Platinum and Diamond Motherboards

A few months back, Intel released the P45 Chipset, which at the time was considered to be their mainstream offering, playing second fiddle to the X48 Express. With official support of a 1333MHz FSB, PCI-E 2.0, ATI CrossFire, and support for both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, there's a lot of roads to go down with the construction of one of these motherboards, and MSI went down all of them. MSI fleshed out a complete top-to-bottom assortment of boards, which means that they have a P45 motherboard that suits just about every potential buyer's needs. Two of these, the P45 Diamond and P45 Platinum are found towards the top end of their food chain, and we'll be taking a look at them today...

PlanOn Printstik PS910 Mobile Printer Review
ITreviewed posted a review on the PlanOn Printstik PS910 Mobile Printer

PlanOn's Printstik PS910 is a well built printer that does what it says on the tin. It's not colour, so won't appeal to photo junkies, but business people needing to print spreadsheets, receipts or other such materials could find it a lifesaver. Print quality and print speed aren't great, but if you're not in a hurry you shouldn't even notice. Text is a bit fuzzy and even at the highest quality setting images are very pixelated. Moreover, the pages curl up the way thermal-printed credit-card receipts do. Finally, running costs are considerably more expensive than most laser printers and inkjets, and you can't use whatever paper you want (say goodbye to company letterheads, etc). Currently, the PrintStik works only with Windows computers and BlackBerry phones, further limiting the use of this relatively expensive peripheral.

Vantec Aeroflow FX 120 VAF-1225 Heatsink Review
FrostyTech posted Vantec Aeroflow FX 120 VAF-1225 Heatsink Review

The Vantec Aeroflow FX 120 heatsink features a special base plate with
three exposed 8mm diameter copper heatpipes, just like Xigmatek's very high performing "Heatpipe Direct Touch" technology. The heatpipes transfer heat directly to a large aluminum fin cooling tower above, and aside from a fairly quiet white 120mm fan the Aeroflow FX 120 is a simple and effective heatsink.

Lian Li PC-V600 Mid-Tower Case Review
TheTechLounge posted a review on the Lian Li PC-V600 Mid-Tower Case

This is not really an exotic case. It's reverse-ATX, with the expansion slots above the processor and the door on the wrong side. It just doesn't have a lot of free space--an elegant proposition, if done correctly--something that can sometimes end disastrously. This case is about precise design, and having a computer that you can stick on of the desk. Ah, yesteryear.

Zotac GTX280 AMP! Edition Review
OCC has published a new review on the Zotac GTX280 AMP! Edition

Pushing an overclocked card past the limits of the factory clocks can sometimes prove fruitful. The Zotac Amp Edition GTX280 is a well clocked card to begin with so the low lying fruit had already been plucked. That being said I was able to pull another 38MHz out of the GPU core and another 156MHz out of the memory. Both of these increases delivered improved results with one additional cost, an increase in the fan speed. That cost however, depends on how high your noise tolerance is. 100% is fairly loud from outside the case while around 65% is more along the level that is acceptable for me. Pushing past 65% did not show any clock speed gains so that's where it was left. The clock speed increases represent a 5% increase on the GPU and 12% increase on the memory. Not a huge increase on the GPU but the memory went over 1300MHz , a rarity for a non volt modded card.

SilverStone Raven Mouse Review
Modders-Inc.com has a new article online on the SilverStone Raven Mouse

The look, balanced feel and cutting edge ideas shows me that SilverStone is truly serious about the mouse market. If they take some of the feed back that has been put out on the web about the Raven, which has been favorable, and tweak it I think that they will have one heck of mouse and most definitely be a serious contender in this market. Xigmatek NRP-MC651 650 watt Power Supply Review
TweakTown posted a review on the Xigmatek NRP-MC651 650 watt Power Supply

Xigmatek is a relatively new company that has only been around since 2005. They made a splash in the enthusiast market with their vaunted HDT heatsink, but few knew they had plans of expanding their product line to include both air and water cooling components as well as thermal compounds and power supplies. Today we will dig into one of their more modest power offerings, the NRP-MC651.

Since model designators often have a meaning, it was interesting to note that the "NRP" prefix does have a meaning; No Rules Power. This falls into the concept of enthusiast based products and we will stress it out in a bit to see if it can show itself to be a worthy contender in a modern system.

Antec Notebook Cooler 200 Review
Virtual-Hideout posted Antec Notebook Cooler 200 Review

To put it simple, I'm pleasantly surprised by the Antec Notebook Cooler 200. Given the limited cooling benefits of the common cooler, it's nice to see it actually make a difference worth noting. There are a couple other nice things noticed as well. While the notebook was crunching away, the battery remained cooler to the touch as well as the entire chassis. And being that the testing was performed at a LAN, the cooler got a lot of attention since it's one of the newest products from Antec. Plus, it definitely has a unique design which further perpetuated the onlooker's questions. The comments were all positive. There was even one that I'm sure (as Antec reads this) would be worth looking in to, if they already haven't.

Das Keyboard Professional and Ultimate Review
TechSpot posted Das Keyboard Professional and Ultimate review

Depending for how long you've been using computers or how much of a geek you are, you may have heard about how old fashioned keyboards that used mechanical key switches were immensely better and built to last. We are talking about the really old keyboards here, like the ones that shipped with the original IBM PC in the early 80s.

Fast forward to the present day and you can easily tell priorities have changed considerably. Internal components are usually the ones driving sales, and the mouse is often considered the more important input device. Now, enter the Das Keyboard: the original Das Keyboard (Ultimate) that uses totally blank keys and the Das Keyboard Professional, which adds inscriptions on the keys. We tested both versions of the product which are essentially the same except the above, but we did this with the purpose of experiencing how the blank board could aid you becoming a touch typist per the maker's claims.

Gigabyte shows bit-tech its final X58 boards
Bit-Tech published pictures of Gigabyte's final X58 motherboards

Gigabyte will launch three X58 motherboards in a few weeks -- the Extreme, the UD5P and the UD5. All will feature Ultra Durable 3 with Gigabyte's new 2oz copper layer in the PCB, Dynamic Energy Saver advanced, 50-squillion hour Jap caps and Dolby Home Theatre audio with the premium Realtek AL889a sound codec.

Style wise, Gigabyte has heard our (and others) concerns and updated its design massively, with a largely positive effect. While adamant that it doesn't want to follow down the "black PCB = enthusiast" route, we think its blue-white-silver approach looks really something fresh. While I personally would have loved Gigabyte to have gone //that much further and make the USB pin-outs blue and orange slots silver/grey, overall we feel the change is certainly a step forward. Drop in some ambient blue and white lighting in a case and this could look pretty pimped out.

Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate Review
IT Reviewed takes a look at Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate

It's always very difficult to review a package like Corel's VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate in a succinct way because there's just so much too it. Not only could you write pages about the main video editing/authoring application, but you could write just as much about the four bonus applications. It isn't a massive upgrade from the previous version, but Corel has tweaked enough features to make it a more impressive overall package. VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate is still a mid-level video editing application, but compared to the likes of Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premiere Elements, it holds its own very well. When it comes to the crunch these two competing titles have more raw editing power for around the same price, but neither comes with as many features or is as easy to use. Corel really knows how to put the value back into software.
