Kodak now has three 12-megapixel models in its compact camera range, and the latest one is the EasyShare Z1275. It is basically a higher resolution version of the 8-megapixel Z885 launched back in March of this year. The Z1275 features a 5x zoom lens, 2.5-inch LCD monitor and optional manual exposure. On paper at least it sounds pretty impressive.

At the higher price, you only have to look at the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB's performance and measure that against its £165 asking price to realise that you'd be a mug to spend £140 on a GeForce 8600 GTS. Thankfully though, Inno3D's card isn't as expensive as other pre-overclocked 8600 GTSes and it actually comes in at a tempting price point if you're looking for an all-rounder.

Where gaming is concerned, the Radeon X1950 Pro will perform as well as Inno3D's iChiLL Xstriker3 and in some cases better than it too -- you can pick one of ATI's previous generation mid-range cards for around £85 (inc. VAT). Of course, it's worth remembering that the X1950 Pro doesn't have DirectX 10 support, but we think that's a bit of a moot point and more of a checkbox feature given the performance penalty for running current games in DX10 mode.

However, if you are looking at something that has all of the HD video acceleration features that are available in the current generation's mid-range hardware, you'll probably take the small performance penalty in games to compensate for the massively improved performance in HD video playback. Therefore we're not going to make an outright recommendation to buy this particular graphics card, but it's one to consider if the usage model outlined above fits you.

Although the Pure-Fi is incapable of changing albums or artists, it does support the use of playlist presets. The remote has six buttons (labeled 1-6), that each remember a single playlist. To set, hold one of the six buttons for 1 second. A beep will be followed by the first screen shown. From here you can choose which playlist to program, the first choice being all the songs on your iPod. I created a mix in iTunes that is comprised of tracks from five Coup albums named Coup MIX. If you scroll through the choices you will see the playlist you created. Upon selecting it, the Elite will give you the option to shuffle the playlist. Select 'yes' or 'no' to finish the procedure and the button will now remember the playlist and options when pressed again.

Though it might get lost in the hustle that is the Intel X38 chipset launch, the Gigabyte X38-DQ6 motherboard turned out to be a GREAT motherboard in my testing. The features were superb with the inclusion of multi-GPU PCIe x16 slots, eight total SATA ports and an external connection configuration that is unique and actually very useful. The performance of the motherboard was faster than its competing P35-chipset boards and the overclocking potential that the board showed exceeded my expectations and set a new record as well.

The biggest improvement to be found in X38 over i975X is in the number of PCI Express lanes available to the chipset, touting a total of thirty-two lanes compared to just twenty in its predecessor. This gives X38 the ability to offer two 16x PCI Express for Graphics slots, both of which can offer their full bandwidth when used in an ATI CrossFire configuration, in comparison to i975X, which dropped from a single 16-lane slot to two eight-lane supporting slots in a multi-GPU configuration. To top even that, the PCI Express 16x slots present on X38 motherboards are PCI Express 2.0 compared to the older 1.1 specification seen on other motherboards - This doubles the maximum bandwidth available from 2.5GT/s (Gigatransfers per second) up to 5Gbps, giving a single PCI Express 16x slot around 16Gbps of bandwidth (8Gbps each way), as well as offering the potential to feed more power to the graphics board via the PCI Express slot and dynamic speed link control. Needless to say, PCI Express 2.0 is compatible with PCI Express 1.1 graphics boards, so there shouldn't be any backwards compatibility nightmares.
