Glide Underground has posted a review on the Diamond Viper II.
3DMark 2000 by MadOnion was the test I chose for Direct3D benchmarking; It´s the standard benchmark for those who want to see what their card can theoretically do. In 16-bit color, the Viper 2 attained scores of 1659, 1615, and 1538 3DMarks at 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768 resolutions. At 32-bit the card scores at 1640, 1592, and 1487 3Dmarks at the same resolution. For a midrange card, this isn´t too bad, but it doesn´t come close to the performance of GeForce cards at the same resolutions. Truthfully, this card holds up to TNT2 Ultras but nothing more. Mostly what seems to be holding the card to its 32-bit performance is the fact that its Z-buffer remains in 16-bit while the color depth goes up.Read more
