Sudhian Media has posted a comparison review between the 5900 Ultra against the 9800 Pro
Not long ago, Valve released some benchmarks of their upcoming DirectX 9 game Half-Life 2. The game is a very highly anticipated one and Valve and ATI had an event called Shader Days to show off some performance numbers. The problem with this is that they showed Nvidia's 5900 Ultra losing to the Radeon 9600 Pro and talked about a bug, etc. It didn't take Nvidia's Brian Burke long to shoot out an email/press release concerning these events. It seems that Nvidia was upset that Valve did not use the 51.75 drivers that they claimed would have changed things around significantly. Unfortunately, I'm not writing this to tell you that I got a copy of Half-Life 2 and was able to benchmark it to verify or deny Nvidia's claims. What we have done is taken a series of DirectX 9 games and benchmarked them with various Nvidia drivers on a 5900 Ultra 256MB and compare them to ATI's Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB with the Catalyst 3.7 drivers.Read more
