Hardware-One has posted a review on the ePad and DuoPen graphics tablet.
Many may compare the ePad pen´s cord to the cordless Wacom Graphire, a better-known competitor. Granted that the layman may cite that the ePad´s cord prevents the pen from getting lost easily, but the real reason lies in the usability achieved using different fields. Electrostatic is used because the RS232 does not provide a dedicated power source unlike the USB port. Whereas cordless pens use electro-magnetic fields that require a much higher current for operation. Hence the Graphire is ONLY available in USB. Still, albeit being cordless, the Aiptek 6001 still requires a battery installed in its pen to function. It also uses the RS232 for data, but requires a PS/2 pass-through connector for power.Read more
