Crucial MX200 1TB & BX100 500GB Series SSD Review

Crucial's SSDs have been among the most reliable and best performing on the market, with last summer's MX100 being the company's greatest hit. Despite offering solid performance even by today's standards, its 'MX200' sucessor arrived only six month later and along with it Crucial also introduced the even more affordable BX100 series and a new SSD toolbox software. On today's menu is the beefy 1TB MX200 ($470) along with the 500GB BX100 ($190).

Galaxy S6 vs HTC One M9

We pit the Samsung and HTC flagships against one another. HTC has been working hard to win market share from Korean competitor Samsung for the past few years.

HTC had some success in 2014 after a poor critical response to Samsung's Galaxy S5 led many buyers to consider jumping ship to HTC's excellent One M8.

However, one year later Samsung has moved to see that history doesn't repeat itself and has released the completely reworked Galaxy S6 that redefines the firm's handset offering.

Linkon Power Stick 3000mAh External Battery Review

Power, power and more power, yes I’ve got another portable battery review and I have yet another one coming up after this one. It seems everyone is making external batteries these days to make sure you’ve got power on the go and when you need it most.

Today for review I have the Linkon Power Stick which is a small and very portable 3000mAh external battery that can charge most any device over USB and yes that even includes tablet from my testing. The Power Stick is like any other portable battery out there but what I found most interesting about this one was the charging cable. The Power Stick comes with a standard microUSB to USB cable for charging it and your devices but it also includes Apple and Lightning adapters which have a microUSB female connection on them so they just connect right to the included cable, no special adapters or tips required. Nvidia to gatecrash the AMD Radeon 300 party with the GTX 980 Ti?

Ti could be released in September, depending upon what AMD shows off at Computex. Nvidia is going to wait and see what AMD shows off at Computex before deciding what to do with its GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card launch says a report by SweClockers. According to its sources Nvidia will bring forward the launch of the Titanium edition of the GeForce GTX 980 if AMD's next generation Radeon range is as potent as early indications suggest.

Currently Nvidia's plan is to orchestrate the launch of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card for late summer, probably September. However, depending upon AMD's success at Computex and in reviews on sites like HEXUS, the green team will move to release the Titanium card earlier. September would give AiB (add-in board) partners enough time for a typical launch accompanied by models with custom cooler configurations, enhanced VRMs and other typical brand enhancements - but if needs be Nvidia will let loose the Ti card earlier to minimise AMD's time at the top of the heap. In this case we would initially see the AiBs launch a bunch of re-boxed and stickered reference designs.

RaidSonic ICY BOX IB-RD3680SU3 External RAID Enclosure Review

If you happen to be a designer, 3D animator, video editor or even just an enthusiast then in all likelihood not only do you need lots of space in the form of Terabytes to store all your data but you may also need a more "portable" solution which will allow you to move all that data around without much effort. That pretty much means you can't really use the drive trays of your tower to do that so you will need to either get a docking station or try and find an external enclosure capable of holding all your drives. Now the docking station may not be the most ideal solution since drives are both exposed and not really stable during transport (although you can always pack the drives separately) but its most serious drawback is that there aren't really many in the market with more than 2 drive spots. On the other hand there aren't really that many external HDD enclosures that have more than 4 drive bays and that also may be a problem for many people (although a step up compared to docking stations). Luckily a few manufacturers recognize that issue and have begun to release external HDD enclosure with more than just 4 drive bays and the latest ICY BOX IB-RD3680SU3 External RAID Enclosure by RaidSonic has room for 8.

RaidSonic Technology GmbH was founded in Hamburg 1999. To realize our future visions and the rising requirements, RaidSonic moved to Ahrensburg (20 min. away from Hamburg) in May 2004.The capacity of our new warehouse, our permanent improving logistic and the expanded technical support lets us look into the future very optimistically. Our vision in a constantly growing IT market is to develop products, which will become your future dreams. Our extensive product portfolio, which we distribute Europe-wide, combines all internal and external solutions for the application of mass storage, for industrial and professional applications as well as for the private sphere, too. Through our all along increasing know-how, good results in research and development and our good cooperation with our long-time customers we could achieve a dynamic growth.

The ICY BOX IB-RD3680SU3 External RAID Enclosure gives you the ability to install up to eight 3.5" drives inside two trayless drive cages (4 drives each) and in turn allows you to configure them either as BIG (1/2x), RAID 0 (1/2x) or RAID 5/50/10 (2x). RaidSonic has also given it both USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity (ideal for new and older systems) along with hot-swap support, energy-saving feature for reduced power consumption when the drives aren't accessed and two thermal controlled 80mm fans (can also be controlled manually). Unfortunately it doesn't support JBOD (Single) mode but for that specific use RaidSonic has the IB-3680SU3 which is basically the same unit minus support for BIG and RAID (we should be reviewing it shortly). So let’s see what this particular model is capable of since RAID 0 should offer quite a bit of performance increase compared to single solutions.

SilverStone Strider Gold S ST75F-GS V2.0 750W Review

Last week, I came across an article online, criticizing the Western mainstream media as inciting a culture of "self-hate". The way I interpret it is the foundation of our fundamental values in a democratic society has slowly eroded from a system that holds impartial reporting in the highest regard, to an alliance of organizations trying to shape our minds into their perspective on a daily basis. I would say the Western mainstream media -- as well as education system -- as a whole likes to cherry pick pieces of data to convince the audience outside of what is perceived as the "majority" viewpoint, while ignoring the hugely overarching obvious, in order to demonstrate their mind blowing "insight", (false) humility, and/or political correctness. In a less controversial example, a few years ago, a person called Ragu in Toronto intentionally reversed his car into the guy behind him in a traffic jam in an attempt to scam for $500. Unfortunately for Ragu, the driver behind had a dashcam that recorded the whole incident, which was then uploaded to YouTube. Before long, internet users found out Ragu had a colorful history of similar practices, and his car had cut brake and reverse lights at the time of the staged collision. Needless to say, Ragu was charged by the police, thanks to the crystal clear evidence. However, the CBC actually tried to defend Ragu in this case, suggesting he was actually an innocent victim, because his car had a manual transmission. I could go on all day about this topic, but my point here is this: If APH Networks, as a media outlet, practiced the same thing, today I will try to convince you SilverStone makes terrible power supplies, because my mom's cousin's friend's coworker's son had one that was dead on arrival ten years ago. Similarly, generic $15 PSUs on eBay are amazing, because my neighbor's grandfather's sister's dog has one that did not blow up after three weeks. Now, I am not here to try to convince you to buy into my perspective. Since we hold facts in the highest regard over anecdotal evidence, today, we took apart SilverStone's new Strider Gold S ST75F-GS V2.0 750W to see if quality will, in the end, transcend perspective and tell its own story. First fact of the day: This is an uber short, 140mm fully modular power supply.

TP-Link Archer D9 Review

The CEOs of other networking brands may well be losing sleep over TP-Link. In just a few years, this Chinese firm has come from nowhere to carve itself a slice of the market, not just by undercutting its rivals, but also by making consistently high quality products with good design value. Most of the TP-Link 802.11ac routers I've tested have been affordable without seriously compromising on quality or performance in any way. Although the Archer D7 was a bit disappointing, the Archer C7 outperformed 802.11ac routers that cost considerably more.So the pressure is now on the firm to continue this tradition with the new Archer D9 802.11ac router.
