One of the most innovative features the GeForce3 offers is its nfiniteFX engine. The GeForce2/256 GPUs had a set amount of features that developers could use and in my opinion, could not be considered a GPU because of the lack of programmability. The GeForce 3 delivers what developers have been asking for for quite a while now. A fully programmable engine that gives developers the ability to program a virtually infinite number of special effects and custom looks. This in turn gives developers the opportunity to create games and other graphic-intensive applications with more exciting and original visual effects. There are two things that make the nfiniteFX engine what it is, Vertex shaders and Pixel shaders.
