Neoseeker posted a review on the Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH & Z77X-UP5 TH Motherboards
Today I will be looking at two new motherboard offerings from Gigabyte which feature the Intel Z77 chipset, the Z77X-UP4 TH along with the Z77X-UP5 TH. Gigabyte's motherboards will be the first to offer certified dual onboard Thunderbolt ports, and they contain a host of new features as well including the Gigabyte 3D BIOS, all Digital Power Engine and onboard mSATA support, 2X Copper PCB and the new Glass Fabric PCB. They do make for some nice looking boards!Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH & Z77X-UP5 TH Motherboard Review
Both of GigaByte's boards share a lot similarities, but there are a few important areas where they differ. For instance, the Z77X-UP4 TH lacks the onboard power, CMOS and reset buttons. Another notable differences is the PCIe Wireless Lan Adapter that comes with the Z77X-UP5 TH. Both boards are equipped with 3 PCIe slots running at 16/8/4x, 3 PCIe 1x slots, and 1 PCI slot. Both the Z77X-UP4 TH and the Z77X-UP5 TH utilize the Ultra Durable 5 technology that brings further features to the power management on both boards.
The Ultra Durable 5 is comprised of several components. First we have the IR digital PWM controllers and IR PowIRstage ICs that work together to deliver 60A of power while producing less heat. Traditional power layouts consist of the PWM controller, MOSFET drivers, high and low side MOSFETs, choke, capacitor and then the CPU.
