ASUS ROG Maximus X Apex Review

When it comes to high-end overclocking motherboards, the ASUS Republic of Gamers Maximus series motherboards have always been amongst the very best products money can buy. With the Maximus X Apex, ASUS certainly doesn't want to break with this tradition. At a first glance, this E-ATX motherboard with X-shaped PCB comes with an armada of features that are really interesting. ASUS is trying to making overclocking a little bit more handy. At this point we are curious to find out what's it exactly that should make this a great motherboard.

Asus VivoBook S15 S510UQ Review

Intel Core i5 and GeForce graphics in a 15.6in laptop costing £620. What's the catch? Taiwanese tech giant Asus offers a wide range of laptops at multiple price points, yet while the firm's high-end models are routinely given the review treatment, the more affordable units that appeal to the masses are often overlooked. We're intrigued to see if there's genuine value to be found further down the ladder, so in for review today is the Asus VivoBook S15 S510UQ.

Aukey CB-C55 Multiport USB-C Hub Review

Notebook manufacturers are following the trend of new USB-C ports, while other hardware manufacturers are still sleeping. Nevertheless, there are already Ultrabooks that do not have previous USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports. Like with the Acer Swift 7, there are only three USB-C ports left! But we wouldn’t be OCinside if we don’t have a pragmatic solution: The Multiport USB-C Hub from Aukey. What it provides and much more can be found on OCinside.de!

Chuwi LapBook Air Review

The Chuwi Lapbook Air is billed as an ultraportable 14-inch machine with a price tag of just $430. This puts it in the realm of some of the cheapest Windows laptops on the market of this display size. Chromebooks are also available for $400 or less, but let's just put those over in the dunce corner for now, because we're mostly interested in true Windows systems.

Crucial MX500 500GB and 1TB SATA SSD Reviews

When the Crucial MX300 series came out back in June 2016 it was a big deal as it was their first drive with Micron 3D TLC NAND Flash memory. We reviewed the 750GB and 1TB capacities last year and found them to be pretty solid drives. Crucial has since released the successor to that series with the new MX500 SSD lineup. The Crucial MX500 series is the first mainstream consumer product to use Micron’s latest 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. This drive series is offered in both 2.5-inch and M.2 SATA form factors in capacities ranging from 250GB to 2TB.

When it comes to performance, this series offers sequential reads and writes of up to 560 MB/s and 510 MB/s with Random reads and writes of up to 95,000 IOPS and 90,000 IOPS. Like the other MX series drives before, the MX500 offers hardware-based encryption and integrated power loss prevention for when the power goes out unexpectedly. The 3D TLD NAND on the MX500 series is based on Micron’s 2nd generation of 3D NAND technology. Micron is using a stackable 64-layer, 256 gigabit die on this series to come up with a 64GB part that is said to offer good density and solid performance with exceptional longevity.

Dragon Quest Builders Switch Review

It's understandable why so many games would take a leaf from Minecraft’s book. Dragon Quest Builders isn’t the first series to mix its signature gameplay in a Minecraft-style world and environment, and it won't be the last, but it might be one of the most successful.

HP Omen 15 (2017) review: A good laptop that made some bad decisions

I’m torn over the HP Omen 15.Like the larger HP Omen 17 we reviewed (and heartily recommended) in late 2017, the Omen 15 isn’t the flashiest notebook around, nor the fastest. It doesn’t stand out from the wider crowd of gaming laptops with spectacular features. But nevertheless, it's a solid, attractive all-around gaming notebook that’s light enough to actually carry with you. That’s a rare combination in gaming notebookYet a few puzzling design decisions in the specific configuration we’re reviewing tarnish its luster somewhat. One aspect might be a complete show-stopper depending on how you use your gaming laptop.

A week ago we checked out Sylvanias $60 HomeKit light strip that works without a bridge and costs less than Philips Hue. Sylvania is a known name in lighting, but theres an even cheaper option available if youre willing to stray from major brands.
