PC Powerzone has posted a review on the Hercules 3D Prophet 2 MX video card.
The MX version comes in 2 flavours - just to confuse you! You can get a DDR version which has a 64-bit data path and you can also get an SDR version which has a 128-bit wide data path. The Creative Labs MX has the DDR, 64-bit version and this one, the Hercules 3D Prophet 2 MX has SDR but the 128-bit wide data pipe. So which is better? Should you go for DDR-RAM or SDR-RAM, 64-bits or 128-bits? We are hear to clear this up for you and make it simple.Read more
The 128-bit data pipe is far more important than the DDR-RAM. The Creative MX has 32Mb of 166MHz DDR-RAM [333MHz] but only a 64-bit wide data pipe. The Hercules 3D Prophet has 32Mb of 183MHz SDRAM with a 128-bit wide data pipe. Testing has proved that the Hercules blows away the DDR versions of the MX with its 183MHz SDRAM and 128-bit data pipe combo.
