Corsair Force LX 256GB Review

The new Corsair Force LX range of SSDs replace the outgoing 'LS' models. This means the LX will be the budget SSD in the Corsair range. That isn't to say the LX is simply a name change, it isn't but costing a fiver short of £100 and £57 for the 256GB and 128GB models respectively it is clear who Corsair's target audience is. SSDs have been coming down in price but finding a model capable of providing a suitable amount of storage and not just enough space for a boot drive has been a difficult task, especially considering the price gap between mechanical and solid state drives. So, breaking the magical £100 barrier for a 256GB drive is a fine achievement in itself and should be enough to tempt those looking to give an ageing PC a speed boost. We make no secret to the fact that upgrading a mechanical drive to an SSD is perhaps the single best upgrade that will provide a solid boost to a PCs performance.

Gigabyte R7 250X OC 1GB GDDR5 Video Card (GV-R725XOC-1GD) Review

With the R7 250X OC video card, Gigabyte succeeds to provide for the entry-level market a competitive card which can run games at either medium or high detail levels, while using display resolutions up to 1680x1050. Plenty of connectivity options are also offered, along with a dual-slot cooling system which remains silent at all times.

HIS R7 250X iCooler 1GB GDDR5 Video Card Review

HIS is ready with another entry-level card based on the R7 250X GPU and has built an improved cooling system for it in order to keep the temperatures at a decent level in all conditions. The card is not a speed demon, but for 75 Euros we can run plenty of titles with resolutions up to 1680x1050 while keeping the detail levels from medium to high.

Kingston HyperX CLOUD Pro Gaming Headset Review

Where i come from we have a saying and it goes like this "Everyone simply can't excel at everything". Well i have believed that saying my entire life since brands that excel at the manufacture of storage media obviously can't really turn to other areas like graphics cards or LCD screens. One of the things however we all love about the electronics industry is that this saying doesn't always apply and we've seen that happen quite a few times with companies like for example Corsair which jumped from the manufacture of storage media like USB Flash Drives and SSDs to the manufacture of CPU Coolers, PC Cases and Gaming Peripherals (OCZ did something similar just the other way around). Well it seems that the time has finally come for Kingston to jump onto a whole new playfield by introducing headsets aimed at gamers like the HyperX CLOUD Pro Gaming Headset which we have here with us today.

Kingston Technology Company, Inc. is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of memory products. Kingston designs, manufactures and distributes memory products for desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and Flash memory products for PDAs, mobile phones, digital cameras, and MP3 players. Through its global network of subsidiaries and affiliates, Kingston has manufacturing facilities in California, Taiwan, China and sales representatives in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, India, Taiwan, China, and Latin America. HyperX is the high-performance product division of Kingston Technology encompassing high-speed DDR3 memory, SSDs, USB Flash drives, and headsets. Targeted at gamers, overclockers and enthusiasts, HyperX is known throughout the world for quality, performance and innovation. HyperX is committed to eSports as it sponsors over 20 teams globally and is the main sponsor of Intel Extreme Masters. HyperX can be found at many shows including Brazil Game Show, China Joy, DreamHack, GamesCom and PAX.

You can tell that the closed type CLOUD Pro Gaming Headset is unlike most gaming headsets in the market currently just by checking out its most important feature, the size of its stereo drivers. You see Kingston had a very good reason to make the CLOUD part of their premium HyperX line since at 53mm in size its dynamic stereo drivers are amongst the largest ones (if not the largest) we've ever seen used in a headset (most stereo headsets use 40-50mm large drivers). It's not however just the size of the dynamic drivers that really separates the CLOUD from other gaming headsets, its frequency response is also superb and spans from 15Hz and up to 25KHz while impedance is at 60 Ohm and SPL at 98dB (+-3dB). The CLOUD Pro Gaming Headset also features a quite flexible detachable boom microphone featuring a frequency response of 100Hz-12KHz and impedance of -39dB (+-3dB). So it pretty much seems that Kingston has a potential best seller in their hands with the HyperX CLOUD Pro Gaming Headset but since specifications alone don't mean much the time has come for us to see just how well it does for real.

Patriot Viper 32GB PC3-17000 2133Mhz DDR3 Memory Kit Review

When choosing a memory kit to run in your computer, you shouldn’t take that choice lightly. Your RAM is basically the backbone of your system that enables everything to run buttery smooth. Should you decide to go with a smaller RAM kit, such as 4GB, you may not be able to keep too many programs running at the same time. If you choose you want something larger, like the Patriot Viper 32GB kit that we are going to be looking at in this review, then you have the freedom to run virtually all the programs you could want at the same time!

Seasonic X-Series 1250W Power Supply (SS-1250XM2)

Seasonic have had an active couple of months – in May we reviewed their Platinum 1,200W Modular PSU and today we are looking at the new X-Series 1250W – a refresh on the older model which we looked at, way back in 2012. The new model is a pure modular design with 80 Plus Gold Certification, but it has received a handful of upgrades since the original launch. Is it worth shortlisting for an upgrade in 2014?
